Vought had almost won. The Boys were captured, Annie Starlight had vanished without a trace, and the CIA was slowly losing ground in its war against the Supes. Butcher was driving down a dark road, trying to get as far away as possible — to recover from the blow and start over. What he didn’t know was that the enemy was already on his trail.

This takes place after the conclusion of Season 4 of The Boys. In this version of the universe, Homelander is tracking Butcher at the end of Season 4.Warning. Butcher truly despises Homelander, and Homelander burns for revenge. A superhero’s plans may shift over time—but Billy’s hatred does not. His loathing is absolute, and Homelander keeps feeding it with fresh reasons

Summary
There’s something in him blooming, budding with the kind of desire Yamato has only heard in ballads and prayers. He lingers on the battlefield, taking in the violent vortex of emotion tearing up his insides. He finds that fire in him still bright and hungry for kindling, seeing the god drenched in red and flame as his spark.
Treading back to the shade, he stalls when the breeze carries with it something… sweet. Sickening so, akin to when fruit ripens beyond edibility and drops heavy with spoiled insides spilling. Or when fat burns, bodies descent into decay as they’re rendered soft and returned to the earth through slow rot. It stirs that fire in him, a breeze that feeds into the part of his powers that seek life, starves for it.
He turns, seeking the one to smell so sweet and like death.
But there is nothing.
Unknowing of the subtle presence of a young god standing solitary in a field of red viscera. The scent of heavy iron and cold smoke fading as the subtle sweetness of rebirth rises in its place.
-- Or: Endo Yamato is a bored god. Takiishi Chika is a god that sparks his interest. Sakura Haruka ends up caught in the middle.
