If only—if only Shane can slide back to bed, to fall asleep beside Ilya and wake up beside him, to just pretend that the outside world does not exist. “It really fucking hurt to just be ignored for six months.”
Ilya looks at him again, nodding as he runs his finger along Shane’s bare collarbone. He shifts so that he’s lying beside Shane more than hovering on top of him, but keeps touching him and doesn’t go far.
“You can call me sensitive or whatever, but I don’t think I can do this if you’re just going to ignore me for another six months or however long after we say goodbye tonight.” Shane continues, trying to subtly wipe his wet eyes but of course Ilya notices.
“Hollander-” He reaches up to wipe the tears away, but Shane lightly pushes his hand away and shakes his head.
“I guess I’m not cut out for casual.” He whispers. “Because this has never really felt like nothing to me, and I can’t pretend that it is. You aren’t nothing to me.”
or, the boys talk in Vegas because they can't fight their feelings anymore.
