Eddie was so close to him and he was so beautiful and he liked men. And Steve didn’t like men because he couldn’t like men. Because if his father had a lot to say about him not going to college or drinking underage, he could only imagine what he would do about his son being a queer. So Steve was not gay, and sure, maybe Eddie was beautiful, and maybe he’d paid more attention than he’d pretended to when Bowie was on Top Of The Pops, but he liked girls and wasn’t that enough? Couldn’t that be enough for him?

Summary
The man- now unmistakably Eddie Munson- opened his mouth as if to say something, choosing to instead launch himself at Steve. There was a second where Steve thought he was being attacked, knocked off kilter, but then Eddie’s arms were around him, burying his face in Steve’s hair. Half-collapsing beneath the weight, Steve guided them both to the floor, pulling Eddie closer instinctively. He felt thinner than he used to, the skin of his back littered with scars.
“Eddie,” Steve murmured disbelievingly, holding him as he shook like a leaf in Steve’s arms. “You’re not dead.”
Eddie laughed, despite the trembling. He clutched onto Steve’s shirt like a lifeline.
“Yeah,” he managed, voice high and vulnerable. “Sorry to disappoint.”

"I don't know what you expect me to do, man," Eddie responds, throwing his arms out to the sides as he starts pacing again. "You guys are used to all of this shit going on, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Still trying to come to terms with the fact that we may not even come out of this alive, so I apologize if I walk around a little so I don't tear my fucking hair out."
"Well what do you normally do when you need to, like, get rid of energy?"
It's been days of Eddie running on very little food and sleep, which is the only possible explanation for why he says what he says next.
"Jack off, usually." He freezes in place, but before he can even begin to be mortified, Steve shrugs and says "So do that."
