It's fine, it gives Simon time to look outside, which he can't seem to stop doing. The car is moving too fast to get a good look at any singular plant for long, and that tugs at something inside his chest, but still, he savors the sight for what it is-- strange, beautiful, with the glory of something that does not yet know it should not exist.
The silence is suddenly absolutely shattered by blaring radio static, music, and a chipper man's voice cutting in at way too high a volume, Simon startling back, "If you or a loved one suffer from erectile dysfunction--"
"Shut up shut up shut up--" Ava fumbles with some dials on the center console.

Fun read that I definitely needed after that ending.
Their dynamic is so beautifully complicated with Ava no longer being in control but still trying to boss Simon around and Simon too distracted by everything around him to be angry about it. Ava is also just really funny here because she's trying to be so professional yet coming off as kinda goofy.
Also really enjoyed the way that Simons religious upbringing and guilt is explored, it's so interesting and in a way I feel is very accurate to real world experiences. It will continue to affect his afterlife even if he no longer fully believes and its nicely tackled here.

3 Chapters of Simon getting time (and touch) with Jack, David, and Ava respectively.
Really cute, feeds my need for touch-starved [character] fics, and also has variation between the different kinds of touch/interactions. Chefs kiss honestly.
Each pair is different and it's wonderful; Jack and Simon are physically close despite not really knowing how to deal with the other, David and Simon are not close at all though David isn't about to leave Simon where he could get hurt, and Ava and Simon are still figuring things out while struggling to let down walls.Favorite chapter is definitely David's even though it's focused less on the touch and more on Simons trauma. The part right after David arrives when he comments on Simon being out of it right after he apologizes makes it feel like David has paid a lot more attention to Simon then he is letting on which is just so cute. Also Simon getting his knife pouch back and using it as a grounding tool is a neat little touch I wish there was more of in similar fics.

Really like the way dissociation/derealization is portrayed here. Also the selective mutism is fun to see on a character known for being talkative (as someone who experiences something similar).

Long read but definitely worth it.
Travis being in a situation where his father can't reach him and it allowing him to learn and grow is just the best outcome from something he was all but forced into.
Also the group being tricked into a church camp but making the best of it is so in character.Really enjoyed the detailing of his abuse, it made it feel more real and affected him in ways that weren't just mental trauma which was nice to see.
Fuck that one counselor/leader whatever. Your religion does not excuse hate. (genuinely almost started tweaking out at that scene because of my own personal experiences, still an awesome read regardless)
