Regulus freezes— He knows that he’s getting played. It’s obvious. He has a massive ego, and Evan’s aiming straight for it.
He flicks his stare over, tone bland as he drawls.
“I don’t need to try and win him over.”
Evan tilts his head, sharp glint in his eye. “Are you sure? I bet that you can’t get James Potter to fall in love with you before the end of the year.”
Regulus is an idiot. He is shackled to his pride, and stupidly fucking competitive.
He holds out a hand for Evan to shake.
“It’s on.”

Summary
Regulus's first thought when he was met at the door with a pair of searing green eyes was something like “Who exactly gave you permission to cut straight through me?”
Then those eyes were moving closer and somehow enveloping him in a hug that felt like he was suddenly at home. But not any home he had ever had before.
“Sorry, I just assumed you’d be a hugger because Sirius is,” she laughed prettily - a sound like warbling birds, "I'm Lily," she said, and he noted that her auburn lashes brushed over cream skin dotted with cinnamon and nutmeg freckles. And he realised he was practically gawping. He snapped himself out of it and forced a smile onto his face.

“Reg,” Sirius laughed, turning to him, “You remember James?”
James looked up at him, “Regulus,” he said with a boyish, crooked grin, “It’s great to meet you again.”
And for the first time in his life, Reg had cause to wonder if God was actually real. Because he certainly seemed to be laughing at him. Far from the irritating berk he had met in Sirius's doorway, tonight, James Potter looked like Summer personified.
If Lily was Autumnal, all cozy warmth and contrast, then James was the clear, heady light of mid-July.

Summary
Regulus had never thought of himself as an artist.
He couldn’t even draw a decent stickman, let alone paint or sculpt. He didn’t have cool names with which to sign his works, he didn’t have an eccentric style or an extravagant appearance.
And most importantly, he wasn’t a daydreamer. He was just an ordinary person with an ordinary, insignificant life. He didn’t have in himself the magic. He was just very good at learning things.
So, Regulus Black wasn’t an artist. He had never felt that way.
Regulus Black also didn't know that things were about to change.
Or: A story about a group of people discovering the beauty of life through love and art, slowly learning that the only way to be perfect is to be imperfectly yourself.

He’s not handcuffed to the fridge handle to the man who easily destroyed his entire life a little less than a year ago. He’s not in Sirius’ house. Sirius hasn’t pushed water in their direction with a motherfucking broom, and in fact, none of this is happening at all.
He’s quite content to keep his forehead on the white fridge, one magnet digging into the right side of his head.

Regulus cannot hear his voice, and certainly cannot handle his name being pronounced the way James pronounces his name.
