Summary
Wilbur was being followed.
In theory, that may have been upsetting, but in practice, he wasn’t actually too bothered. Especially considering that his pursuer was a teenager and not particularly good at going unnoticed.
Wilbur waited until he’d made it to deserted street before turning around. “You’ve been following me.”
The kid stumbled back, obviously startled, but to Wilbur’s surprise, he didn’t seem scared.
In fact, he recovered quickly enough to say, “You’re a vampire.” It wasn’t a question. He was staring at Wilbur, but it wasn’t in disbelief. Instead, his blue eyes were calculating.
“Yes,” Wilbur said slowly, taking in the light flush of the boy’s cheeks. “You’re not.”
“Nope,” the kid said, shoving his hands into his pocket. “You wanna work out a deal?”
Or, Tommy's in a bad spot, spots Wilbur the Friendly Vampire, and decides that he can scam him. Instead, he gets adopted.

“Tommy,” Techno grunts, and he—
He’s pushing Tommy back. Away from his fangs, away from his face.
He…he didn’t bite him. He didn’t turn Tommy.
He…he doesn’t want Tommy. Doesn’t want him in his coven. Doesn’t…doesn’t want to be Tommy’s dad?
Across from him, Techno is just staring. With his stupid eyebrow raised, and fanged lips drawn, and Techno doesn’t want him anymore.
Tommy can’t help it: he bursts into tears.

There were rumors of course; that the Blade wasn’t human, couldn’t be. That he was a monster, that he was the last of an ancient race that lived only on blood and used to be worshiped.
But still; it was almost a shock to stand in the path of the man himself, and briefly meet those infamous blood red eyes. Such a bright ruby red that Tommy personally thought they couldn’t be human. And standing here; waiting for death, he couldn’t help but think the rumors were true.
