The pit seemed to laugh at Percy. It knew he plan was stupid. He was never the strategist. That was always Annabeth’s job in this relationship. A lump formed in his throat. After eight months without her, was he really willing to do this?
He glanced back down at her.“I love you, so so much,” he said.
“What!?” A confused expression crossed Annabeth’s face, before being replaced with sheer terror. “Percy no! Don’t you dare!”
With the final bits of strength he had left, Percy dug his nails into Annabeth’s arm, hauling her up as high as he could get her.
“Grab her!” Percy cried. Then quieter, to Annabeth, he said: “Please, gods, Annabeth reach for them. Please.”
