He moved to an opposite tree a few feet away to leave the same mark engrained in the bark. "Don't cross these markers," he motioned an invisible line stretching from one marked tree to the other. "This should help you remember the borderline," Edward moved back to stand behind the invisible line. "My side," he pointed to the space around himself, "Your side," he pointed to where Jacob stood.
"How'd you-...How'd you do that?" Jacob questioned the deep 'Xs' in the trees.
Edward blinked. "...Sharp nails."

Forced out of his dream and dragged out of bed by his father, Jacob is made to go with him to the Swan residence. The pair deliver the rundown Chevy that Charlie requested for his daughter, but during the meeting, Jacob can’t help recalling the warnings from his dreams. Now he must complete a series of objectives, keep his head down, and survive the story or face a series of endless nightmares. As he does so, Bella too begins to catch on to her friend’s strange behavior and the unsettling nature of Forks.

Dig the dirt out from under his nails. Drain the blood from his matted hair and spit it out his mouth like none of it was ever there. Free himself of his second skin.
But the shower looks like a murder scene when he opens his eyes. Bright red and murky brown paint the walls and shower floor like watercolour. And it's just another cruel reminder, like the teeth marks baring his throat, for what's to come, about what's really happening.
He takes his time to clean himself up, detangling his hair with shaky fingers and cleansing it with shampoo until the red water runs clear. Scrubs his face under the spray of icy water, gathering a pool of it in his open mouth and sloshes it around before spitting it out again. He's grateful he hasn't spat a tooth out yet.
