“Another fight with the damn ink stain. How does he always know where I am anyways?? I wouldn't be surprised if that weirdo was stalking me or something...”
Ink let out a snort as he continued reading.
“Oh yeah, this is definitely his.” He resisted the urge to read it all right then and looked back up at Core, “Say, could I keep this?”

What he did not expect that he will be stuck in a time loop, forced to revisit the same race until someone finally crosses the finish line. If everyone dies or the finish line is crossed by a monster, time resets and they are back at the morning of the race with no memories of the previous loop. The rules seemed to be clear and logical...

He saw his father tense, subtle enough that most would not notice. But Damian was not of the majority, he’d lived with the man long enough to notice his tells. The way his shoulders pulled back by mere millimeters, the slight scrunching of his eyebrows, how his eyes moved from tired to alert to disbelief to bone deep sadness in less than a second. Damian would be a disappointment of a student, let alone a son, if he failed to notice them.
It's also how he knew his father didn’t believe him.
