Rose doesn't respond immediately. She opts, instead, to crouch down and kneel at the foot of the bed, looking up at you with an expression unreadable in the moody lighting of the room. She brings up one hand to rub soothing circles into your knee, stroking like a worry stone and tilting her head. "Significance, Strider?"
You unclasp your palms to pull her hand up slowly, gently, before pressing a kiss to the dorsum. Her skin is so, so warm. Your blood twitches in little icicles that twist around your veins, juxtaposed but threatening to melt. In a hushed tone, like anyone could overhear you here, you murmur: "I'm not adverse to you. Why is that?"
