Summary
The Illuminati are in disarray, their schemes in shambles—for the moment. Summary
The story picks up immediately after Beyond Triaxis, my last work in the series. Yelena Fedorova and her associates are on their way to rescue Megan Reed, as she had promised Helle beforehand. Morale issues have to be dealt with first though, and afterwards... little does she, or anyone around her realise, the chain of events that had already been set in motion, by her actions in New York City, combined with the devastating, cataclysmic earthquake that befell the West Coast. Through it all, Yelena has obligations to meet, and agreements to honour with the underworld, whether made in good faith or not.

Nel corso di un meritato e simbolico periodo di pausa dalla Task Force 29 dopo gli eventi di Londra, Adam Jensen riceve una richiesta di aiuto da parte di Artair McTavish, un hacker residente a Praga che si è rivolto al Collettivo Juggernaut per trovare qualcuno di adatto alle sue necessità.
Si tratta di un incarico che potrebbe avvicinarlo in qualche modo a Bob Page, un mezzo per dare finalmente un volto anche a tutti gli altri Illuminati.
O forse è qualcosa di molto più familiare nella vita di Adam, l'intimo desiderio di voler fare sempre la cosa giusta, in un mondo che ha un estremo bisogno di gentilezza ed empatia.
Un incarico che lo spingerà a collaborare con una ragazza la cui storia è terribilmente simile a quella del potenziato, e con cui lui scoprirà di poter essere più che un semplice strumento nelle mani degli altri.
Perché in realtà, tutto ciò che Adam Jensen cerca è un modo per tornare a sentirsi nuovamente umano.

В разгар страстного романа с Шарифом Дженсена накрывает кризисом о своей потерянной гетеросексуальности. У него ж было столько женщин! (только все мы знаем канон) А будет ещё больше! (все мы знаем канон-2). А с Шарифом, конечно, шикарно, но это временно и не всерьёз. Шариф на это всё охуевает и быть запасным вариантом отказывается. Дженсен полирует разрыв по классике, бухлом и стрип-барами.
И вообще, два года прошло, он живёт в Праге. Правда, есть проблема. Адам ни черта не может забыть Шарифа. Он снова идёт по классике – бухло, бары, стриптизёрши. Только не помогает. Смотрит Дженсен на полуголых женщин у шеста, а на их месте одного конкретного мужика представляет. И Дженсен начинает прозревать, в чём, кажется, дело...
И тут расчехляется Шариф.
Итак, шипперский клип по пейрингу шенсен. Внутри горячие срачи, поиски гетеросексуальности, би-паника и, конечно же, взаимная страстная мозгоёбочка. Инджой!

"You are not property!" Ivan snarls, and Vaclav's gaze snaps back to him, to the burning rage in his eyes.
"To them, I am!" Vaclav cries, gesturing widely with an arm.
