Convinced he’d left Robby behind for good, Dennis never expected that seeing him again on his wedding day would bring everything rushing back as if nothing had changed. He takes a detour to prolong his return home, finding himself with a blown engine in Nebraska. The Whitakers find him road side, towing his bike and Robby to their farm to help him with repairs. Over the few weeks he is a guest in their home, he finds himself in the company of the youngest of the four adult sons, Dennis Whitaker, who opens up to him. Dennis finds himself enamoured by the traveller crashing in the trailer on his family's property, an older man who is surprisingly good with his hands. They grow closer, truths come out about what really caused Robby to cross into Nebraska, and the family dynamic Dennis lives with.
