Casey Gardner's life looked a lot simpler six weeks ago. Newton High, same track team, same routine — and a family that was quietly falling apart in ways nobody was talking about yet.

Izzie is moving with her family to Salt Lake City, a cold and sparsely populated city with no prospects for many things. Her parents are struggling in their marriage and her older brother is her only friend she can get support from. Izzie came from a busy city, where her life was good as a cheerleader although it was never her decision to be an athlete, but as her father was not well financially, she needed the scholarship to study at a minimally acceptable high school to enter a good university.
Izzie loved the theater, the arts, literature, things her parents couldn't even dream of knowing, but that all changed when her dad got a job promotion to take over a part of the company in Utah. She who was a sophomore in high school, comfortable in the quiet and warm town of Connecticut had her life turned upside down.
