All the kids know that Robin's Nest, the secret youth shelter run by Gotham's Red Hood, is a place which offers an ice pack, a hot meal, a safe place to sleep behind a door that locks. No questions asked, no charge or services demanded, no strings attached.
The kids of Gotham deserve that much, and the kids in this neighbourhood NEED it.

Dick… is aware. He’s aware that he’s not doing well. He’s aware that Tim isn’t doing well. Hell, he’s aware that Alfred isn’t doing well.
What with Bruce being… well…
He’s aware.
But, as he stares at his little brother telling him that Bruce is alive, he can’t help but feel anything but relief. In fact, he feels a lot of bad feelings about it, and then very quickly adds guilt to those bad feelings since he can’t think of anything positive to say.
Because he’s aware that he’s not well. And that Tim isn’t well. And that Alfred isn’t well.
But they weren’t well before Bruce died, either.

But oh well, everyone knows life as a teenage vigilante/crime lord is full of surprises.

Dear Journal,
Mrs Mac isn’t coming. She just sent a reminder that she’s off for the week at her brother’s place in Kentucky. She told me about him, last time she was here. I can’t believe I forgot.
But I guess my parents forgot too, since I’m still locked in my room. I have to start school on Monday! I guess I could always climb down the tree... I don’t have a key, so I can’t unlock it from the outside. Also, I don’t want to wait until Monday, I’m starving in here and I’ve drunk way more water than I usually have.
Also, I think my cold is getting worse-

Tim started keeping a journal sometime after he turned nine. He kept the journal throughout the most tumultuous year of his live, the year he turned ten.or: Tim's parents forget him at home. He takes matters into his own hands.
