Jennifer knew she was hot. It was a fact everyone loved reminding her of. It’s like someone saying that the weather is amazing while actively standing outside in the sun with a slight breeze. It doesn’t need to be stated. It’s just…truth. She grew up pretty, and so it was no surprise when she got hotter during puberty. She doesn’t want to be a huge bitch about it, but…yeah. Some people are luckier than others and there is nothing wrong about it. She just has one of those memorable faces that people just love to stare at.
And one of those people happens to be Needy. Constantly it felt like when they were growing up. It would even cause Jennifer to blush sometimes the way Needy could just stare and stare without realizing how fucking gay she was being. Jennifer rarely ever minded though when it was Needy. Boys, classmates, her family- god, even old ass men who knew better- always felt the need to tell Jennifer about her beauty as if she didn’t know. But she did know. But people don’t like to hear about that. People don’t like knowing that a pretty girl knows she’s hot.
But Needy…oh Needy. She knew Jennifer knew because they were best friends since childhood. Needy knew Jennifer’s every thought, action, and feeling before they even occurred. She knew Jennifer’s body in ways no even men could. Jeniffer liked that. But she loved the way Needy could stare at her, seemingly lost in her friend’s beauty.
However, Jennifer had a feeling that wasn’t why Needy was staring at her now in some run down bar in South Dakota- about seven hours away from their hometown and the insane asylum that is supposed to be holding Needy. It made Jennifer’s newly alive heart hurt that Needy didn’t appear happy to see her.
Slowly, Jennifer pushed herself off the bar counter, leaving the man she was trying to convince to go into the woods with her. Being dead for several months made her very hungry. Though, oddly, when she came back from the dead, she wasn’t hungry right away.
“If you keep staring, your face will get stuck like that, loser.” Jennifer smiled, sitting across from the blond in the black hood. Needy looked…shocked. Less scared than Jennifer had hoped for, but she also didn’t know this new version of Needy at all. The one who looked…it wasn’t the same girl who Jennifer used to make friendship bracelets with or make out with on Needy’s bed. However, Jennifer wouldn’t mind making out with this Needy either.
“You…are…I…I killed…you’re supposed to be dead.” Needy whispered, leaning forward. The hood did enough to keep her identity sealed, but still that whole fucking nation was on high alert for “possibly” “dangerous” Anita Lesnicki. Possibly dangerous was an insult. She was dangerous. She killed six people for fuck’s sack.
Well…five since her first victim is now sitting in front of her. Needy wondered if she could be cleared of her charges now. Jennifer is back and the fact that Needy killed Jennifer is why most of the nation thinks she kills Low Shoulder. But…that CCTV footage is pretty damning.
“And you’re supposed to be locked away, Needy.” Jennifer leaned forward as well. Needy didn’t look well the closer Jennifer got. She looked…sick…like Jennifer did when she first…but no- that’s impossible. “What…happened to you?” Jennifer asked, now feeling worried, all of her playful mood changing and fading. Did some guys try something with Needy?
Needy didn’t answer her, though. “How are you alive?” She sounded angry as she whispered and clutched the table, her eyes darting to make sure no one was listening.
“Answer my question first.” The blond’s eyes darted around the bar before grabbing Jennifer’s arm. “Needy!” Jennifer gasped as she was pulled from her seat. Needy looked back and gave Jennifer a look that told her to shut the hell up. Oh…Jennifer didn’t mind that…no, she didn’t mind that at all.
Once they were outside in the cold air, Needy whipped around, pushing Jennifer against the side of the building. “How.” She hissed, angry for some reason.
“How what? How did you escape your prison sentence after murdering me-” Jennifer a few weeks back, in a different bar, saw a segment about the runaway girl. People are apparently very scared of this version of Needy.
“Jennifer!” Needy screamed, looking frustrated. Both of her hands were on either side of Jennifer’s boxing her in. Jennifer had truly never seen her friend like this. The once collected girl who really allowed Jennifer’s teasing to push her off the edge was nowhere here.
Swallowing her own saliva, Jennifer spoke. “I told you, Needy, I’m a fucking God.”
“I. Killed. You. Jennifer.” Needy spoke, stabbing her finger into Jennifer’s chest. “You died. Your mother found me murdering you. You were pronounced dead.” Needy says through gritted teeth.
“You’re not happy to see me?” Jennifer asked, reaching out as rubbing Needy’s neck, allowing her fingers to play with the blond locks.
Needy pulled back. “I never…” But Needy didn’t continue. She looked tired and gaunt, like her body was somehow decomposing from the inside out. But in a way that men found attractive in supermodels. Where Jennifer saw the once rounder, softer face of her friend was gone, now there was bone structure that wasn’t revealed before. The eyebags could be seen as sexy, bedroom eyes in the right light.
“What happened, Needy.” Jennifer asked, more serious than usual. With a huff, Needy unzipped her hoodie and revealed her tank top underneath. But, when she moved her shoulder, Jennifer saw the…wound? It was all kinda gross and almost looked like an infection that was scarred over. “What…ew.” She complained, pulling back.
“This was you.” Needy rolled her eyes, covering it. “When I attacked you, you did this. I guess…I…I don’t really know. I got some of whatever you are.” Needy seemed almost annoyed with Jennifer. Jennifer couldn’t help but notice as the blond’s eyes darted around them, making sure no one else was around.
“So now you’re…what- part succubus? I have to say Neddy, it looks good on you.” Jennifer winks.
“How are you back?” Jennifer asks bluntly.
Jennifer didn’t really have an answer. All she knew is one day she woke up in a coffin and had to literally claw her way out. Luckily she felt alive or else it would have been a bigger pain in the ass than it already was. Her nails still haven’t healed from the traumatic experience.
Already knowing and understanding Jennifer’s expression, Needy sighed. “You don’t know?”
Jennifer shrugged. “I told you- God.”
Needy looked ready to kill Jennifer for a second time. She sighed, pinching her nose. “Well- this isn’t good. A dead girl and a runaway nutcase-”
“We would make a good porno.” Jennifer interrupted
Her friend’s eyes snapped up at her. Then…there she was. Jennifer’s Needy. Just for the split second of her face softening. As if they were just normal high school girls again struggling to pass chemistry. “You…that’s gay as shit.” Needy smiled. Jennifer bit her lip before running a hand over Needy’s face…she missed the girl’s glasses.
“You wanna get out of here?” Jennifer asked, already reaching into the pocket of her tight, skinny jeans for the car keys.
“You have a car?” Needy asked, honestly sounding surprised.
“Hey! I’m in my prime.” Jennifer winks again, giving a small wiggle in her hips as she begins to walk, but she does not mention the fact it’s the car of the first guy she ate after coming back from her death. “I can do as I please.”
The blond seemed to think for a minute until the loud noises from the bar caught her attention. The two would be much safer away from people and large crowds…”Fine. But drive safely please. We don’t know if you can come back a third time.”
“And we don’t know if you can come back at all.” Jennifer giggled which was followed by Needy’s annoyed sigh as they walked towards the car. Needy took the moment to look over her friend. She looked like the old Jennifer. Well- she looked like normal Jennifer. Whether that was before the incident or whenever she was fed. “Stop looking at my ass and come on!”
Needy’s eyes snapped up as she realized she had stopped walking. “I wasn’t doing…that.” Needy huffed before she got into the passenger seat, rolling her eyes.
“Geez, Needy. You get locked away and suddenly so modest. Boring!” Jennifer called out into the night before she sped off, the tires screeching on the pavement. Needy would be surprised if tire tracks weren’t left on the road.
“Slow down!” Needy screams, holding onto the side of the car.
“You slow down you die, Needy! Or you get caught by the police” Jennifer joked before laughing at the other girl.
Needy groans. “Are you drunk?” She asks her friend who just laughs. Jennifer takes her eyes off the road, looking over at her friend. She should be more upset that Needy technically murdered her…but her mind couldn’t find any anger.
“Sober.” Jennifer says, still looking at Needy.
Needy finally looked over, realizing Jennifer wasn’t looking at the road. “Dude!” She screamed and Jennifer once again laughed like it was the funniest thing in the world.
“I’m just messing with you.” Jennifer smiled. However, a part of her didn’t want to look at the road with Needy next to her. Quickly, she cleared her throat. “Sorry for killing your boyfriend.” She said.
Needy roared out a laugh. She shook her head, sighing before looking at Jennifer. “Sorry for killing you.” She said as if apologizing for something mundane and stupid. Jennifer smiled, shrugging due to no hard feelings between the girls. It’s not like Chip really mattered at all. “I killed that band. Slow Holder or whatever their stupid name was”
Jennifer slowed the car a bit, wanting to hear Needy more clearly since of the sound of the engine and the sound of the tires on the road. “Yeah- I saw that…just like on a bar TV. Why’d you do it?”
“Because of what they did to you.” “They violated you so they couldn’t live anymore. Not when I was out and free.” Needy wanted to add but she feared that would upset Jennifer.
That made Jennifer feel…something weird burn in her chest. She always suspected that was the reason from the first time she saw the news report. But now it was like something so much more. Needy killed for her. Jennifer couldn’t think of a single guy- a single person who would kill for her. “That’s gay.”
“Maybe.” Needy laughed and Jennifer paused before pulling up to the side of the road. Her heart changed the course of it’s beating at Needy admitting that, yes, it was “gay” to care for Jennifer in that way. It meant Needy cared for her so much more than was normal within the bounds of friendship. “Why’d you stop?”
“Did you miss me?” Jennifer asked, turning towards her friend.
Needy blinked at her before furrowing her eyebrows. “Of course I did, Jen.”
“Why?” But Jennifer didn’t ask it like a question as she unbuckled her seat belt. It was accusatory as if Jennifer was trying to catch Needy in a lie.
“Because you’re like- my best friend?”
“Do you regret it?”
“Sure…yeah…I mean- I can’t really explain why I did. Everyone figured it was due to Chip or something dumb like that but…” Needy trailed off as Jennifer leaned forward a bit. “What?”
“Would you do it again?” She asked as she undid Needy’s seat belt.
Needy paused, really looking at Jennifer. The air was thick between them. Like that night in her bedroom…when Jennifer was wearing her clothes. “No.” Needy whispered. Jennifer wanted to ask why but she was scared the answer would disappoint her. Maybe it was because Jennifer was all Needy had now. Or because she actually did really care about the girl.
Needy’s eyes watched as Jennifer hit a button that made the top of the car go down. “Beauitful night.” Jennifer said, still looking at Needy.
“Yeah.” The blond agreed, wetting her lips. She wondered if Jennifer’s lip would taste the same as they had months before. Probably not if she had to guess.
“Did you miss the stars when you were locked up?” Jennifer asked, leaning closer. Her dark eyes met Needy with something that could have lit a match.
“Every damn night.” And just like that Needy finished the distance, her lips hungerily finding Jennifer. It was rare for Needy to be the one to break. Even when the two girls would play boyfriend/girlfriend, Jennifer was usually the one who needed to start the action. But…like before…something inside Jennifer told her- no, confirmed for her that this wasn’t the same Needy she grew up with.
With the palms of her hands, Needy pushed herself closer to Jennifer, both girls fighting to be the one to kiss the other more. “Need-” Jennifer gasped but Needy locked right back in with her. It ended with Jennifer having to be the one to push Needy’s away by the shoulders.
The girls parted, panting. “You okay?” Needy asked, her lips a bit swollen already.
“What was that?” Jennifer asked, sucking a bit on her bottom lip.
“What was what?” Needy countered, a bit concerned maybe she hurt Jennifer.
“What? You go to an all women asylum and suddenly you- you’re this good at- don’t laugh!” Jennifer sounded actually upset but all Needy could do was lean her forehead on Jennifer’s shoulder while laughing.
Needy took a deep breath before looking at Jennifer. “Are you jealous?” She asked, barely holding back another laugh.
“I am not! You’re just gay as hell.” Jennifer complained, shoving Needy’s shoulder.
However, instead of continuing to tease the girl, Needy turned Jennifer’s face back to looking at her so she could lean in again. Needy’s soft lips met Jennifer’s once again and for a few moments Jennifer didn’t give it. That was until she realized how much she wanted to kiss her dear friend. Her hands roamed Needy’s body, finding their way up her top to feel the girl’s chest.
“I wasn’t making out with any girls while locked away.” Needy smiled and Jennifer rolled her eyes. She was a bit embarrassed she had gotten jealous. She very rarely got jealous. Well…if you don’t count her jealousy towards Chip.
“Fine.”
Needy kissed Jennifer's neck, letting her teeth run against Jennifer’s skin. “I missed you.”
Jennifer hummed, blushing as her nails lightly scratched Needy’s back before leaning down and kissing the side of Needy’s head. Jennifer felt the girl smile. “What?”
“Hey…are you hungry?” Needy asked and Jennifer smiled as both girls turned and looked into the woods on the side of the road. Both of them smelt the smell of a campfire somewhere deep inside.
“You eat?” Jennifer wasn’t sure if Needy was the same as her.
“No. Not my cup of tea. But I would rather enjoy keeping you fed.” Needy pulled away, getting out of the car. She walked to the back, using her strength to pull the car plate off the back of the car before tossing into a bush.
Jennifer furrowed her brows. “Why?”
Needy looked at her, leaning against the car door. “It will be easier to run from the police with you at your full form.” Needy smiled and Jennifer liked the sound of that. Like the promise that Needy would stay with her. The dark haired girl got up with her eyes on the carseat before leaning forward to kiss Needy. Her hands ended up tangled in the blond hair, desperate to get as close to each other as possible.
