Jack Tracker, Sawyer Storm, Walker Cleveland, Cassidy Birch, Hugh Edit, Alexia Green, and Axel Frazier. Walker had black hair and blue eyes and wore an outfit that resembled that of Boulder's. Sawyer was African American, with dark brown eyes, and had an orange pilot suit. Jack. He had green eyes and dirty blonde hair. He wore a black and white police uniform. Cassidy wore a firefighter uniform, much like Kade, and had his hair in a ponytail. He was their leader. Hugh was the former go-to for sea rescues, alongside his rescue robot. He unfortunately was the victim of a failed sea rescue and was no longer with them. Alexia was the special ops and stealth of the team. She wore a stealth suit in white and blue. And she also had her rescue robot, which looked like a James Bond car. And Axel was the quick response of the team. His rescue robot was a sports car. He wore a race suit, in purple and green. Together, they formed Team Beta.
But he had to leave his best friends behind. He was moving. He had lived on the mainland his whole life, so moving to the island of Griffin Rock because of a police job was going to be hard on him. He watched as the ferry from the island entered the port. He went on it. He saw an older man in a police uniform, with a blue Ford Mustang behind him.”Hello, Jack Tracker, correct?” He said. Jack nodded.
“I have some papers for you to sign once we get back, I'll be your escort. I am Chief Charlie Burns of the Griffin Rock police department.”
“Oh, it is an honor, sir. I am honored to work as your partner.”
He heard a low growl from somewhere.
“What was that?”
“My car..I'll explain later, but you will not be working under me, but under Deputy Barney.”
“Ah, I apologize.”
“It's fine.”
He could have sworn he heard him ask his car if that was right. This was weird. They arrived on Griffin Rock. “Let's head to City Hall. Police Bot. ”Chief said. “acknowledged.” The car said, turning into a bot. Jack looked amazed. “Rescue Robot?” Jack asked. “Yes. I am surprised you knew of them.” Chief said. “Our team has three of them.” Jack said. “So that is where they were assigned..” Chief muttered, then coughed. “Griffin Rock is renowned for its technological advances.. but I guess now is a better time for an explanation. That growl you heard was from Chase here. He is my partner, as well as an alien from another planet. We want you to sign a non-disclosure agreement that says you will not reveal the bot's secret.” The chief explained. He looked stunned and then nodded. This will take adjustment. But what did that mean about their rescue robots?
They went to the city hall. He signed everything and then went to the house he had bought. He was going to have an orientation tomorrow. His phone rang.
“Hey, Jack!”
“Walker?!”
“You didn't think we would just let you move without keeping up to date, did you?”
“Heh..I guess not.”
“So, how is Griffin Rock? I haven't been there in forever.”
“I'm not sure how happy I am with working with a machine. But it makes me curious about something.”
“Met the rescue bots, did you? I'm glad I'm not the only one who knows our bot's secrets now. Guess I could never escape them.”
“Yeah..you could say that. So, our bots are aliens..”
“I left shortly after we found out they were aliens. It's just too crazy for me. Which one did you meet?”
“er..oh..what was his name..he was blue and a police car..”
“Chase? Weirdly, he's the most chill of the four.”
“Four? There are four of them on the island?”
“Yeah, Chase, Blades, Boulder, and Heatwave.”
“I wish Team Beta hadn't split with you leaving. Maybe I'll move back.”
Jack paused. Would he have his team here by his side again? “In fact, we could establish a base on Griffin Rock,” Walker said. “I still have Chief Burns's phone number. Might see what I can arrange. See ya.” Walker said as he hung up.
The next morning, Jack did his orientation and was assigned to a new division. The GRPD Beta group. A team of his old friends. “Well, it seems like you guys will be sticking around more,” Kade said to the cars. They had already signed the NDA for the bots. “Whoopie..” Blurr remarked. “Jack, I am not a fan of this idea,” Cassidy said. “Yeah, would Hugh have liked this?” Alexia asked. “Give it a chance.” Walker said. “I am not opposed to this idea, unlike some others here.” Quickshadow said.
“Man, I will never get used to the cars talking like this.” Axel said. “And I will never get used to your recklessness.” Blurr said. “The stovetop tea equipment should be lighter on the other stovetop tea equipment.” Chase said. Jack Tracker looked at him. “Huh?” He said. “The pots should go easy on the kettles.” Chief translated. Jack laughed a bit.
If he was being honest, this police bot was going to be an adjustment. Yet he spoke with such a level of..dignity. almost seriousness. He was clearly focused on the tasks at hand. Cassidy pulled him aside.
“Jack. Are you sure you want to do this? You could come back to us on the mainland.” Cassidy tried to persuade. Jack shook his head. “No. I belong here. With my friends. If you want to leave and no longer work with us..be my guest.” Jack coldly said. After all, it was him who got Jack to transfer anyway. “I..I know we have been rocky lately..but, please. Reconsider.” Cassidy said. “I don't trust these..Rescue Robots. How do we know they won't malfunction?” Jack turned around. “Because they aren't just machines, Cass!” Jack yelled. The other members looked at them. “Oh, no..here we go.” Alexia said. “not again..” Walker said. “This is a frequent thing?” Blades asked. “Cassidy and Jack..have not been on good terms lately.” Sawyer explained. “That sounds bad for a team.” Dani said. “Yeah..I think Jack blames Cassidy for..Hugh. and Cassidy blames Jack in return.” Sawyer explained. “Who's Hugh?” Boulder asked. “Hugh Edit. He was..the partner for the gigantic robot?” Walker explained. “High Tide. I recall him mentioning the death of his partner.” Blades said. “So sad..” Dani said.
“I know they aren't machines, but they still serve the same purpose!” Cassidy argued. Jack groaned. “No, they have personalities and personal problems! They are their own species.” Cassidy huffed and stormed off. “That did not go well.” Heatwave said. “You're telling me.” Jack said. “Heh. Give him time. If Captain Cuddles over there can come around, so can he.” Heatwave reassured. Jack weakly smiled. “And plus, you got partnered with an interesting one. Chase could learn a lot from you, I think.” Heatwave said. “I don't think he likes me very much..” Jack said. “let him run a background check on you, and you should be all good.” Heatwave teased.
Jack laughed. Maybe this wasn't going to be so bad.
