Chapter 1: Fangs And Blood Halloween

Chapter Text

“You look stupid… er.” Tommy said as he watched Wilbur fix the neck ruffles on his collar.

“I do not.” Wilbur said indignantly. He glared at Tommy, fixing his collar a little more aggressively.

Tommy looked at him flatly and unimpressed. “You’re a vampire and for Halloween you’re dressing up, as a vampire. How is that ok?”

Wilbur’s hands paused. “Do you want to go trick or treating, or not? Go get ready, we’re not going to leave until you’re dressed up.”

“Fine…” Tommy sighs dramatically. “Guess I’ll just have to go get into my super poggers costume and show you just how lame yours is.”

“Hey!” Wilbur called out in mock offense.

Tommy stuck his tongue out at Wilbur before giggling as he ran off. He ran through the halls, weaving around and through the staff as they prepared for the party tonight. Tommy smiled widely as the doorway he was looking for came into his sight. He kept running until he was barging into Technoblade’s room. One door slams against the wall with how much force Tommy opened them with.

“Techno!” Tommy shouts as he swings on the other door a little before walking over to where Technoblade was finishing tying on a gauntlet of some kind. “Wil’s being a baby so I came here to bother you instead.”

Technoblade grunted a little as he fixed one of his earrings. The emerald on the gold chain swung a little. “Why don’t you go bother Phil or Kristin?”

Tommy climbed onto Technoblade’s bed and flopped face down onto the softness. “But you’re right here and I don’t wanna.” Tommy saw Technoblade try to suppress a smile and shake his head. “Anyways, what are you dressing up as?”

Technoblade looked at him in his peripherals as the servant helped him get everything just right. “This is the one day a year it’s socially acceptable to go out in our preferred clothing. So I shall be going out in mine.”

“Ah. You’re wearing all your king shit.” Tommy said simply as he kicked his feet a little. “That’s cool. How long does it take you to get ready?”

“When I was still alive, it would take two of my personal servants and myself a full three hours to get ready for one of the more simple ceremonies and events. On my coronation day it took a full five servants six hours to get me fully dressed and ready. The outfit I decided for today is something on the more simple side. We are working on a time limit after all.” Techno explained as another staff member wove his hair into delicate plaits that were then pinned to his head.

“Seems like a pain in the ass.” Tommy says from his place still sprawled across Techno’s bed.

“What are you dressing up as?” Technoblade asked as he went back to allowing the servant to be able to drape golden jewelry on him.

Tommy frowned and spread out over the bed. “I don’t know.”

“You can always be what you are every day.” Technoblade offered.

Tommy’s head perked up as he narrowed his eyes at Technoblade. Glad to hear any ideas anyone else had. “What’s that?”

“A menace to society.” Technoblade said simply. A sly smirk played on his lips as he fought to keep his expression neutral. “Or a little trash thief.”

Tommy pushed himself up and grabbed a pillow before chucking it at Technoblade. The pillow harmlessly flew past Technoblade and hit the wall before falling to the floor in an underwhelming manner. Technoblade laughed at his attempt.

“You’re such a dick.” Tommy grumbled.

Technoblade hummed as he smoothed out invisible wrinkles in his fancy, flowy, rich ass shirt. “Mm, am I now? Well isn’t that a pity, and here I thought we were getting along quite well.”

Tommy pulled another pillow up to his chest and rested his chin on it. “Uh huh. Wil’s got you beat though.”

Technoblade snorted. “Don’t let him hear you say that. I don’t want to even imagine the amount of whining I’d have to listen to. Just thinking about it makes me feel a headache coming on.”

Tommy sat on the edge of the bed with the pillow on his lap. He frowned down at it and squeezed it between his hands. Technoblade glanced back at him before pulling away from the servant.

“Are you okay?” Technoblade asked as he walked over and gently held Tommy’s warm hands in his cold ones.

“Yeah. Just… thinking.” Tommy mumbled.

“Still need help deciding on what to dress up as?” Technoblade asked, tilting his head a little.

Tommy’s eyes roamed over all of the golden drapery over Technoblade’s neck, ears, shoulders, and chest. “What if… I was a plague victim?”

Technoblade jolted forward with laughter. “Oh, Phil is going to absolutely hate that.”

Tommy smiles wryly. “Oh really? Well now I have to dress up as a plague victim. It’s the only thing I can be now.” He nods sagely.

“You can do whatever you want.” Technoblade said as he let go of Tommy’s hands and let the servants get back to work. “Just come get me first before you go see Phil and Kristin. I want to see his reaction in real time.”

“Alright. Thanks.” Tommy slipped off the bed with a smile. He tossed the pillow back onto the bed as he got up and left.

He walked around the halls looking for Philza and Kristin’s room. He was about to give up when he saw a pair of grand doors and thought ‘that’s probably it’ . He walked over and looked at the engravings on the doors and door frame. Little hearts, feathers, crows, and flowers were carved into the wood. He gently brushed his hand over the detailings before he pushed one of the doors open.

“-ust as handsome as the first time I saw this on you.” Kristin said with a smile as she brushed off some dust before fixing how a few things sat.

Philza grabbed her hand and brought it up to his lips before kissing it. “And you look just as beautiful as you did when I first saw you.”

Kristin smiled and blushed lightly as she tipped her head away from Philza before she noticed Tommy. “Dearheart!” She said cheerfully as she moved to give Tommy a big hug. “When are you getting ready? Do you not feel like going trick or treating? Did you get sick?” She holds his face in her hands, twisting him this way and that. Concern etched into her features.

Tommy waved off her questions and firmly pulled his face from her grasp. “I’m fine. I was having trouble with picking a costume.”

“You could always go as… a skeleton or… a clown?” Philza paused. “Is that right? I thought jesters were supposed to be funny, not scary.”

“Whatever you choose, Jack and the other staff can help you put it together.” Kristin said with a smile. “We’ll wait for as long as you need but there’s only so much time before you won’t be able to choose.”

Tommy smiled a little. “Technoblade and I already talked about it.”

“Do you have something picked out?” Kristin asked as she picked up her day time gloves and slid them onto her cold hands.

Tommy nodded happily. He opened his mouth to tell them before he remembered what Technoblade said. “It’s a secret~” Tommy grinned before letting out a giggle.

Tommy’s eyes flitted to Philza when he pinched the bridge of his nose. “Why?”

Tommy grinned. “Because I can.”

Kristin sighed, but kissed Tommy’s forehead. She caressed his cheek before walking over to her husband. Tommy giddily left to get ready in his room without another word.

“Tommy, darling love, isn’t there something else you’d like to dress up as to go out tonight?” Philza’s voice is strained and eyes wide as he takes in just what exactly his youngest was dressed as.

“But I don’t want to. I worked really hard on the make-up too!” Tommy pouts, crossing his arms. His make-up was actually the work of one of the staff but it looked so realistic. Maybe he could get them to help him pull pranks sometime.

He had had a sneaking suspicion that Philza was going to react like this, if Technoblade’s demand was anything to go by. Speaking of, said vampire was behind him somewhere and trying to keep his laughter to himself. He was doing a terrible job of it too. It was making it ridiculously hard to keep a straight face while Philza was slowly losing it. Kristin was by his side as well, trying to comfort her husband.

“It’s alright. It’s just a costume dearest.” Kristin consoled. “Just a bit of fun.”

“Yeah!” Tommy exclaims. “Next year I was thinking about going as Jack the Ripper.” He smiles brightly as he watches a look of desperate horror spread over Kristin’s face.

“Dearheart, please. Do not do that.” Kristin demands. Her eyes are serious as she stares at Tommy.

Tommy ran away as soon as he had shoved Wilbur off of the sidewalk. His bag of candy clutched in his hands swung wildly as he ran ahead. Wilbur shouted and gave chase after him.

“Get back here you gremlin!” Wilbur shouted behind him.

Tommy giggled as he turned down a different street. “Come and catch me if you can!”

Tommy knew that he was going to get in trouble for this, but he didn’t care. He wove through the surprisingly crowded street, trying to lose the coven of vampires he was starting to call his family. It didn’t work for very long when he was suddenly being scooped up by Philza and carried back to the other three coven members.

“Tommy.” Kristin started in a warning tone. “What did we say about running off on your own?”

Tommy smiled sheepishly as he was set down. “Don’t do it?”

Philza set his hand on Tommy’s back. “Come on, let’s go get you some treats.”

Tommy bounced on the balls of his feet excitedly. He eagerly walked with Philza from house to house getting candy and other treats. They trick or treated for a while. During their outing he was introduced to a few different coven members he hadn’t met before and a few that were, ‘under their protection’. Tommy didn’t really care, all he cared about was getting free candy and treats.

The sun had set quite a while ago and it was getting pretty cold. Of course, that didn’t stop Tommy as he continued to be a menace until he was carried back to the manor.

At some point while they were in the parlor, Philza leaned down and started talking to him. “You know, I never thought I’d see you again after we bumped into each other in the alleys all those years ago.”

Before Tommy got the chance to respond or even think about it, Kristin had him change out of his costume and into the stiff fancy Victorian era clothing she was so fond of wearing. As much as he loved Kristin, the clothes she had him wear were suffocating. If he could get away with it, he would burn them all and not be sorry. But because that would then upset Kristin he will not be doing that.

“Why do I have to wear this? It’s so uncomfortable and I don’t want to wear it.” Tommy complained.

“Because the annual All Hallow’s Eve ball is held tonight. The Lady of the House hosts it every year. As a part of the hosting coven, you are expected to attend as well.” His personal attendant explained as they continued helping him finish getting dressed. “This will only be the first of many that you will be attending.”

Not too long after he was finished getting ready he was pulled from his room and down to the big ballroom under the manor. Wilbur and Technoblade met him at the entry to the ballroom, each dressed in extremely similar outfits. When they catch sight of him, Wilbur smiles widely while Technoblade gives him a more subdued expression. Tommy’s personal attendant bows before they’re dismissed by Technoblade. They both saddle up next to him so that they were on either side of him as they escorted Tommy to Philza and Kristin. The two were waiting at the foot of the grand staircase down. They smiled as they greeted guests. They both beamed brightly when they finally saw their sons. The three of them are received with warm embraces and fond smiles.

Tommy clung to the edges of the room and mostly remained out of sight from everyone else in the room. Sure he was more used to the attendees of this party than the average person, but that didn’t mean shit when they still scared him. He was only human after all, and everyone else in that room was something else. Something more than human.

The party dragged on in the beginning, but pretty soon there were more than a few tipsy people walking around. Wilbur had had a few drinks already and had encouraged Kristin to have some as well. Right now Tommy was attempting to sneak a glass of cider off the table. To his disappointment, he was caught almost immediately.

Technoblade lifted him up by his armpits. “What do you think you’re doing?”

“I just wanted to try some cider.” Tommy grumbled, crossing his arms and furrowing his brow.

“Oh, come on Tech, let the kid have a taste.” Wilbur stumbled over his words and feet a little. His face was just about as flushed as a vampire could be. The glass in his hand was full again so this was now his third glass of the night.

Technoblade narrowed his eyes at Wilbur. He didn’t put Tommy down even when the teen started to wiggle about in his grasp. “Absolutely not. He’s not of the legal drinking age.”

“And technically,” Wilbur swirled the wine in his glass, his words slurred slightly. “I’m not even suppos’ to be drinking thi-... ‘scuse me.” A hiccup interrupts his sentence.

Technoblade moved Tommy to be wrapped up with one arm so he could take Wilbur’s wine glass. “Then I guess I’ll have to confiscate this too, then.”

Wilbur whined and reached for his wine glass. “Not fair. I’m stuck at this age forever. Just let me have my adult juice.”

“Even if you weren’t technically underage I think it’s time to cut you off. You’ve had enough alcohol for the night, Wilbur.” Technoblade held the mostly full glass of wine out of Wilbur’s reach.

The very tipsy brunet was trying his damnedest to get to the glass but only ended up hanging off of Technoblade’s arm. A few weak reaches towards the glass was all that Wilbur could muster. Soon he was just hanging limply from Technoblade’s arm and whining loudly. No words though, just sounds that Technoblade ended up reciprocating.

Tommy watched them amusedly. Eventually he was set down and watched over by Philza as Kristin and Technoblade led his tipsy brother out of the ballroom and back to the nest to sleep off the impending hangover. There were still quite a few guests milling about the room. Even more on the dance floor, all of them swaying and twirling to the orchestra playing on the slightly raised stage platform. Tommy had attempted to dance with Kristin at least once but wasn’t all too confident in his skills so he mostly just sat in the alcove that seemed to be reserved specifically for his family. He stayed there and cuddled with Philza, well, as much as he could in the overly stiff clothing that he’d been dressed in.

“How’s your Halloween been going, mate?” Philza asked as he carded his fingers through Tommy’s hair.

“It’s bee-” Tommy’s sentence was broken up by a yawn. “-n good. Real fun.” He leaned into Philza’s side a little heavily as his eyes fluttered open and shut.

Philza draped an arm around him. “You can go to sleep. I promise nothing will happen to you.” He whispered as he brushed Tommy’s hair back to press a gentle kiss to his forehead.

Tommy’s brows scrunched up at the cold lips on his forehead, but they smoothed back out with the cuddle. Tommy leaned further into Philza with a small smile.

“’M not sleepy.” Tommy mumbled as he cracked his eyes open again to catch sight of Technoblade and Wilbur again. Apparently the unruly drunk had been able to escape Technoblade’s hold and come running back in search of more alcohol.

He watched Wilbur down another glass of wine before Technoblade was able to take it from his hands. Tommy snorted and felt Philza wrap an arm around him, pulling him in even closer. Wilbur waved Technoblade off and stumbled over in Tommy and Philza’s direction. Technoblade hot on his brother’s heels.

“Heeeey~ Tom-” Wilbur hiccupped midway through Tommy’s name.

“What do you want?” Tommy grumbled as he snuggled closer to Philza.

“Wan’ cuddles.” Wilbur slurred as he dropped into the chair next to them and slumped forward to try and reach Tommy, completely off balance and uncoordinated.

Tommy groaned and attempted to push Wilbur away. “Wil-”

Wilbur pulled Tommy away from Philza and into his lap instead. He wraps his arms around Tommy and buries his face into Tommy’s neck.

“So warm.” Wilbur murmurs into the neck ruffles of Tommy’s shirt. “Smell nice.”

“Thanks?” Tommy looks at Philza with a pleading look in his eyes, practically begging for help. “Um, Wil? Can you let go? Please?”

“Nooooo…” Wilbur whined, burying his face deeper into the junction between Tommy’s neck and shoulder.

“Phil, Phil please, pretty please can you get Wil to leave me alone?” Tommy asks, voice jumping an octave in desperation.

“Sorry mate, this is the only way you both will stay out of trouble.” Philza apologizes, he looks over to Technoblade. “Techno, mate, would you be willing to stay with the fledglings? I think I’d like to have at least one dance with my wife before the night is over.” Technoblade nods and Philza stands up to find Kristin, leaving Wilbur and Tommy in Technoblade’s care.

Tommy had to put up with a drunk Wilbur practically melded to him, coddling him, all night long. He’d settle for even an inch of space to breathe on his own without Wilbur crying or laughing over him with his drunk babbles. But, alas, Tommy put up with it until he was too tired to socialize with anyone. Technoblade was no help in this situation. All he did was watch as Tommy was slowly suffocated from Wilbur’s ministrations. Wilbur attempted to carry him to the nesting room for cuddles, but Technoblade quickly came over and caught him before he could trip himself and fall or drop Tommy.

Somewhere between this blink and the next Tommy was carried to the nesting room. The next thing he knew was that he could breathe properly. All of the stiff and stuffy clothing slowly stripped away to be replaced with things that were much more comfortable. He was getting soft things piled on top of him by a still drunk Wilbur. Tommy made a noise of contentment and snuggled deeper into the piles of soft things. Sleep slowly laying claim to him. Today had been a good day. He just hopes that the future has more good days like this in store.

He thinks that he deserves to have more days like this.
