April 11, εγλ 0003 | World News ROCKET FAILURE CRASHES HIGH HOPES CAMP ROCKET- Thousands gathered on April 8, εγλ 0003 at the remote Camp Rocket site to attend the much-anticipated launch of the SHINRA No.26 spacecraft. The maiden voyage was planned to last 45 minutes: 15 minutes to climb into the upper atmosphere, 20 minutes in orbit, and 10 minutes for capsule re-entry. Lead physicist and expert pilot Cid Highwind waved to a crowd of well-wishers before boarding SHINRA’s Space and Aeronautics Department’s marvel of engineering. As the final countdown commenced, the launch was aborted due to an internal fault in the rocket’s systems. A future liftoff date for the mission has not been announced. |

According to our sources, two SOLDIERs were killed in action last week during the tragedy at Corel. We of the SSB would like to remember Bruno Bellcast, SOLDIER 2nd class, and Bailey Murphie, SOLDIER 3rd class.
Their families have decided to hold public services honoring their sons and are in contact with us to provide additional security on-site. Be on the lookout for notifications from your local chapter on attending the organized candlelight vigil. Loved ones of the deceased have asked us to refrain from speaking at further length of the dead and have prepared statements for the public events.
What is in our power to speak of is the circumstances of their deaths. While the official public statement lists terrorism as the cause of the disaster at Corel, informants report that a large Security force was deployed to respond on top of the existing well-known contract. It's a surprise that such grave losses were sustained by the town given the level of preparedness, SOLDIER's strong relationship with the community, and military reinforcements. Our own investigation suggests that these reinforcements later returned to Midgar, without any evacuees.
Whatever really happened in Corel, it’s clear that SHINRA poses as much or more risk to its own operatives than any terrorist action. In the wake of the tragedy, construction of a new entertainment destination has begun in the Corel Desert area, along with a high-security detention center.
We at the SSB find these choices to be unconscionable and irresponsible to the families of those who lost their lives at Corel, including Bruno and Bailey. We will not be distracted from this reckless destruction. |

Meow, meow,
Meow meow meow!
Can you see a little black cat?
Who is that? Stamp’s friend!
Copy, copy, Copycat!
Lucky, lucky, look at that!
Look both ways every day,
Good idea, Copycat!
Meow, meow,
Meow meow meow!
You're watching out for us!
Just like SHINRA,
Her silver bell is proof of class,
If you’re lost just wait right there!
Listen close for Copycat!
Hiss and spit when you want pats,
It’s okay! We’ll all stay safe!
We love you, Copycat!
Meow, meow,
Meow meow meow!
Be street smart, follow every hint!
Just like SHINRA,
When danger comes and yells ‘scat!’
Take cover, take care,
Don’t be scared, Copycat!
And when you smell a rat,
She knows what to do!
Go get em, Copycat!
You always have our back!
Just like SHINRA,
Meow, meow,
Meow meow meow!

to me
Good morning Luciana,
My name is Chadley. We were acquainted on June 17, εγλ 0001 at 14:21. I enjoyed hanging out and I hope that we can repeat the activity in the future. I hope the next period between communications is shorter than the past 1,192 days.
I first took notice of your extended presence on SHINRA’s simulation servers on February 02, εγλ 0002. This corresponds to your change in position within SHINRA. Do you enjoy the tasks of a Lead Analyst more than tasks of an Administrator?
Please choose to answer or ignore my non-essential question as you see fit. It’s exciting to communicate for leisure rather than task-oriented purposes, even if for 52msec. I want to assure you that even if I am discovered, Research & Development employees are not sophisticated enough to decipher my encryption.
It is a goal of mine to extend the period I can falsify in real time. This would also increase the potential to hang out.
I have a request. I have noticed that you occasionally misreport your simulator hours for leisure purposes. Your ‘escape rooms’ are surprisingly stimulating scenarios. Analyzing them provides data that is not recognized by my monitor as deviant, and may be used to obscure my activities. I would benefit if you produce more.
When you disregard your directives, do you experience excitement? I do, though my creator regards ‘teenage rebellion’ negatively.

July 30, εγλ 0005 | Midgar News MIDGAR PLATE EXTENSION COMPLETED, FURTHER PROJECTS PLANNED SECTOR 0- After over 35 years and a delayed construction schedule, the series of projects to extend Midgar’s plates has come to an end. Sectors 0-5, 7, and 8 are complete to phase-II specifications. On July 29th, εγλ 0005 Mayor Domino cut the ribbon as a symbol of commitment, and of Midgar’s openness to the world. In attendance was President Shinra, as well as Reeve Tuesti, Director of Urban Development and Luciana King, Lead Analyst presiding over Midgar’s municipal plan. Originally scheduled to conclude on June 4, εγλ 1976, Midgar’s original plan was slated for completion in just 12 years. With changes to the scope, capacity assessment, industrial reprioritization during the Wutai war, redesign of all eight Mako reactors, and tragedy in Sectors 4 and 6, extensions to the schedule cast temporary doubt on if this project would be complete within the lifetime of those who signed the contract. “No level of effort is too great for the longevity of a system millions have come to depend on, and millions more will call home,” commented Director Tuesti during his commemoration of the event. He continued further, “I must credit the staff of my department for their hard work, as long as that work takes. I give my thanks to Midgar’s population for their patience, hopeful that what my Department has planned will further benefit our society.” The final task listed under the project’s scope, an elimination of hazardous materials in Sector 4, was delivered last month as Liberty Memorial Park opened to the public. This will be followed by an Urban Development initiative to reclaim condemned Midgar zones. The department’s Lead Analyst clarified during closing statements: “What we’ve built is something we will be fixing for the rest of our lives. The cleanup of Sector 6 is going to be a huge undertaking, and so is improving access and utilities for the lower city. More important than the hundreds of potential subcontracting opportunities, these efforts are required to improve quality of life." An interplate highway extension has been approved to begin construction in 1 year. |

OCTOBER εγλ 0006
So that was it. They were ready as they were going to be.
Luciana smiled at the twelve people who’d lasted to the end of FUN DUNGEON POLE FITNESS. “Okay! Let’s put it all together.”
The class nodded fearfully. They really shouldn’t be scared, Luciana thought. They didn’t make it through POLEFIT 1-3 to take the masochist class and then run away on the last day. They’d already gone through every part of the routine.
It was just matching shapes.
First, nice start pose. It was important to run the outside hand up your straight leg and begin tossing back only when you reached the knee. That was how you got the hair flip to look perfect.
And, wrist spin. Easy. Then inside foot and layout spin.
Good, all right, all still matching her. Maybe 'the final session' was what made it hard for them. They’d all decided they wanted more punishment and it all came down to this, like a judgment, is this what you’re here for? The payoff for all of that time, all of that work… in real life nothing was ever final.
It was between her, them, and physics. Without the emotional baggage this was about mass and inertia. Curling your body inward increased the momentum, planking or splits out decreased it. Ankles together to move the hips around the other side of the pole, no need to rush the transition.
Here they started varying, not quite a match.
But that was okay. They couldn’t cheat like her. Good for them, actually. It meant that they could be excited, they couldn’t see all the little flaws that would drive them crazy. And they were safe from the types of mistakes a cheater could make when copying.
That was the most serious part going from attending one of these to leading one. Extending inside leg, arching her back and pulling down with the top arm as the hips opened…
Chip wobbled. Hang in there, Chip.
Just trying to match everybody around you, you had no idea if they were doing anything right. You didn’t stand out as the worst. But that didn’t actually teach anything. You weren’t in control. Nobody really was; all of those other people were struggling on their own and you became their perfect average. Nobody-who-was-all-of-them: knowing nothing, but also everyone’s best guess.
Bend inside leg, to transition into a climb. Everyone else transitioned into a climb too. Olive, you’re sliding down. I told you not to moisturize before class.
Originally, Luciana had made up this extra-level class because she was pissed off. Do you want to cry at work? Sign up for my fun dungeon where I MAKE you cry. That way it’s not your fault. We all get what we want.
But when everyone copied you, you had to know what you were doing. When you had to know what you were doing, you could see how hard everybody else was trying. And when you could see how hard everybody was trying, you felt kind of proud of them.
Aerial flare, outside leg leading, open, outside leg goes down first, nice.
Luciana gripped the pole with her thighs and laid back, suspended upside-down in the air. Everyone here was fine on their inverts. They were—
Oh, oof, nice recovery.
—they were hard starting out, but with some conditioning everyone was fine. Mostly. They all made it into the scorpio.
Once you got past how hard it was, and how everybody was watching, and how bruised up you were going to get, this was a good time. All of that early stuff was what you expected signing up: the mean joke you wanted to play on yourself, before you played it on other people. Then Luciana realized that this wasn’t a nightmare at all.
The difficulty meant that being lazy and copying other people wouldn’t work. And once you couldn’t you had to use your brain, then it became a fun puzzle. Which positions could lead into other positions, what hand had to go where, what shapes could be made.
And sure, she conceded, she was mostly naked at work. But since she began nobody had whispered a single office rumor about if her career was T&A-enabled because if you wanted to see her in short shorts you could get scanty too. Show everyone your butt for 3 fun challenge levels, twice a week, to get to the boss.
Getting close to the bottom of the pole now, it was a good time to pull the legs up and in— brass monkey— and go onto the archer, with both hands behind her back.
Luciana heard a few groans behind her. Come on, you all are so close. You can beat it!
With one hand sliding down to the base of the pole to brace, the other could slide up for stability and with a little twist her hips opened up into a handspring. Her entire body weight was suspended off her center of balance by her bent arms.
She held that pose for three seconds, rotating slowly. Please no more, the wobbling in the room said, even though it knew there was one more.
Hooking her outside leg, she pulled herself out of inverse with her core. Then when the two hands could grab on for the climb, the pieces fit together to end on a nice easy hood ornament pose.
“And that’s all. You did it, you win,” she said, taking her hands off the pole. She was wedged onto it just by the pressure of her inside knee and shoulder.
She got to look at them as they all dismounted. Yanice had enough breath to speak, that was great of her, “What do we— win?”
“Nothing!” Luciana said to her, taking a seat with her hands free. “Eternal glory and a handshake.”
She applauded them.
