Yeah. Yeah, okay.
AKA I don't like the "death as redemption" trope, so I decided Kepler needs to live with his mistakes.

No amount of sleep deprivation is going to make Fabian miss dinner. The time he has to burn before that happens will pass, and it will pass regardless of his mental state, so he better stop thinking or he’ll just end up inventing a new thing to fear.
Slowly, Fabian sits up from his bunk bed, and wills himself to look down. He has more options than locking himself in his mind. Both in general and specifically in this room.
“How is that going?” he says.
Riz is sitting crossed-legged on the carpet, and there’s a mess of papers arranged around him like he is reordering the illustrations of a visual novel. In front of him sits a wooden hexagon. It is absolutely huge and intricately designed. There’s a dice on top of the box and two books opened on the very first page.
“Just fine, thank you,” Riz replies.
Arguably, if there’s anyone whose internal clock runs at a thousand miles per hour, it’s supposed to be Riz. And it is Riz, too. Just in a different way.

It's a slow evening after a busy day. Fabian and Riz are spending the night at Mordred Manor, and they have some time to kill before diner. They talk for a while.
