“So—um,” Natsuo says next, “Do you and Hawks know each other at all? We invited Hawks-san because we like to have lunch with him. Sorry for the surprise—but the more the merrier, right?”
Dabi slurps noodles once more.
“Did you…um,” Fuyumi adds next, “ever run into each other?”
“I tried to kill him,” Dabi says next. “I burned his wings.”
There’s a squeak. Natsuo’s and Fuyumi’s eyes widen.
“Don’t worry,” Hawks reassures. “I lived.”
“Stubborn bastard,” Dabi grumbles almost immediately. He lifts the bowl to sip broth. “I threw him out a window.”
“I lived then, too,” Hawks reassures before they can have another scandalized gasp. “Don’t worry. It’s how he shows his affection.”

Post-war, Todoroki Touya is pardoned from his crimes, while Hawks gains a new title: the Dabi Whisperer.

"It really doesn't have anything to do with you," Hawks tries to explain, which obviously backfires.
"The fuck it doesn't!" Dabi lunges forward, grabs the collar of Hawks' compression shirt and yanks Hawks up to growl in his face. "You murder someone for me, you do something that could get you killed, for me, and it doesn't have anything to do with me?"
"Okay," admits Hawks, "When you put it like that—"

Summary
If Dabi were going to feel guilt, it would have been back when he had a life. Back before, when he had a family, had a sister demanding to know "what the hell is this, what the hell is wrong with you". He didn't feel bad then and he doesn't feel bad now.
Dabi's brain on heroin isn't the problem.

Disgusting as it is, he forces himself to swallow the petals back down. They catch in his throat and he almost starts coughing again before he finally manages it.
"Allergies," says Dabi, voice scratchy.
Dabi falls in love.

Summary
“No, actually,” he says, voice carefully casual. He takes a step forward, putting distance between him and Dabi before he turns around. When he has a better view, he says, “I have a proposition for you, Dabi.”
Dabi melts into the shadows—the rough purple-black scars on his face, his dark clothing, his lank hair. The only parts of him that holds any light are his eyes, which are a startling shade of light blue. Something about those eyes is familiar, but Hawks can’t put his finger on what.
“A proposition?” Dabi says. “Is this some kind of fetish, a hero/villain thing? What would the press say?”
Hawks couldn’t give less of a damn what the press says about anything. Chances are, when this is all over, his reputation is going to be sullied by far worse than a sex scandal. That knowledge makes it easy to smile, to laugh, at how ridiculous Dabi is.
“Maybe later,” Hawks says, waving an idle hand. “The proposition I’m talking about is a bit more serious. One your boss is gonna want to hear, I bet.”
Five times Hawks let Dabi get too close, and one time he got too close, himself.
