It's the best tragedy the Games have ever had. They use it year after year, of Stark siblings on a chariot, Seam grey eyes and Seam brown hair and long, long faces, clammy hands and bumbling, humbling, endearing personalities.
The Capitol likes to wrench apart families, which is why no one, not even her father, is surprised when Robb Stark is reaped, still fourteen, still a boy.

Theon shook his head. “I did for a while, but, I don’t know. I guess I started thinking about it more after I met your mum, and things just started to fall into place.”

It had come for his own father; had crashed into him with all the strength and terribleness of a winter gale, and into his father’s father before him, and his father’s father’s father before that. And on and on. A father’s curse, as terrible as the blessing of children was a delight.
He had known it would come, but he had thought he would have more time. He had thought it would come from another child, at another time. He hadn't thought it would come from his Robb, and he certainly hadn't expected it to take the form of a shy, rosy cheeked girl.

Robb considers the merits of throwing himself overboard. No more salt beef, no more braiding rope, he’d never have to look upon Greyjoy’s face again. “Tell that to Robert Baratheon,” he hums, returning to his work.
City guard Robb Stark has a chance encounter with a dashing young pirate, is kidnapped and held for ransom, learns to sail, and falls in love. More or less in that order.

They thought they could try to mediate things.” He sighs. “They died when Aerys had everyone in the Red Keep murdered just before he bombed Casterly and blew up half of the city. I like to think they’d be proud of what I did of the family heirloom.” He glances at the ceiling, then back down to the ground. “I don’t know. But I tried my best.”
“I can see that.” Theon says nothing for the next few minutes, then a hand touches Robb’s wrist tentatively as he gifts Robb one of those small, real smiles of his. “And you’re doing better than you think.”
“I’ll let you believe that for the both of us,” Robb smiles back, and thinks that out of everything, he doesn’t regret having picked him, nor having gone back to Harlaw even if he was told he was a waste of time.
He really doesn’t.
Or: in which Robb Stark has take a hard decision to ensure the survival of his people after five years stranded in outer space, deal with his feelings for his best friend and second in command and try to lead what's left of the people who once lived on Westeros's nine planets to a better life before their resources run out.
