Dex has been an active observer in a lot of rebellions. He knows all about ghosts. He’s acquired a lot of them in his time.
The galaxy hasn’t been at peace for a long time, now. An entire generation and a half has been raised with the Clone Wars and the Galactic Empire.
But even with the shadows of the past in every booth, in the familiar orders flowing into the kitchen, in the beleaguered faces that he leads to the back room, past the bathroom and accessible only through the walk-in freezer, he is unprepared for this specter.
She has dark hair and eyes and the air around her vibrates with a righteous stubbornness and an intensity he’d only ever seen in a handful of Jedi…and Padmé Amidala. He nearly calls her name before he remembers reality (she’s dead, he’d watched her funeral seventeen years ago along with three-quarters of the galaxy’s population, dead with her babe unborn) and stills his tongue before he can greet her shade.

Instead of broaching the topic in a way he might have with someone from his new life, Dazai found himself broaching it just as he would when they were teenagers—angrily, to the point, and with no regard for the other party. “You’ve decided you have a death wish, which is supposed to be my thing by the way, and have dragged me into it.”
“Hah?” Chuuya said, face slackening and head lifting from his chin as he looked at Dazai in something close to bewilderment. His voice raised in volume somewhat. It stoked something inside of Dazai, something famished and starving. “What the hell are you talking about?”
“You don’t trust me anymore.”

The thing about Soukoku is that they were never going to last. This was obvious to everyone who had met, heard or faced them. The only person, apparently, who didn't know this was Nakahara Chuuya and Dazai Osamu.
The story between Dazai and Chuuya is one written in blood, and only some of it is theirs. But they grow apart, and they fall together, and they come back to each other in the end, and maybe that, one day will count as a happy ending.

Chuuya dropped his ability’s hold on the six or seven people around him, then kicked off of a nearby wall to propel himself at the girl. She was slowly dissipating into light, vanishing upwards into the ceiling, but before the edge of her coat could vanish Chuuya shot by like a dark bullet, reached out, and just barely grabbed it.

Summary
The plan: Dazai Osamu leaves the mafia after Odasaku’s death, but he doesn’t leave behind his rage. Fuelled by the need to avenge his friend, he creates a painstaking plan to tear down the Port Mafia— to create a false haven for mafia members while, behind the scenes, he collects information meant to expose the organization for the criminal terror it is.
The dilemma: Dazai doesn’t plan on Chuuya finding him. Chuuya believes Dazai’s simply hiding from the mafia, starting fresh with a harmless job in a local bar. They have their closure and move on— until Chuuya seeks him out again. Eventually, their emotions for one another can no longer be ignored. But Dazai’s desperation to take down the mafia means he can’t become distracted by his feelings for Chuuya
Maybe, he can use this connection with Chuuya to his benefit. Maybe, he can have everything he wants, so long as Chuuya never finds out.

Summary
Dazai ends up in a coma after his most serious suicide attempt yet. He has left three letters, one of them being for Chuuya.
Sitting at the bedside of his comatose body, Chuuya tries to understand.

Dazai is falling. In the orange glow of sunrise, the waves of his hair are fanning around him, and his dark eyes are wide with fear and shock, his hand outstretched towards Chuuya. His bandages are unravelling all around him in the wind.
Chuuya is not even thinking anymore. All he can see is that hand reaching for him as he launches off against the balustrade and falls after him.
He uses his ability to make himself heavier, his own drop faster, his hand reaching for Dazai right back.
It's only when he catches Dazai in his arms, holding his head tight against his own shoulder and trying to fly back up that he remembers; this won't work.
He must have been really out of his mind to have forgotten it at all.

Summary
He had Chuuya’s apartment memorized down to the last spec of dust. But now the wine isn't in the far left cupboard anymore, he can’t find the damn sugar to replace it with salt, can’t even steal one of Chuuya’s chocolates because his not-so-secret sweets stash is suddenly secret again, and the hats collecting dust aren't on the rack. He expected Chuuya to stay the same even though he himself had changed.
But Chuuya isn't sure if he's ready to forgive.
Or: Dazai is in Chuuya’s apartment for the first time in 4 years following his defection and suddenly the cruel reality that Chuuya changed while he was gone is hitting him all at once.
