“Your affairs? What, are you—”
“I’m sick, Kaveh. Haven’t you noticed?”
“The coughing. Sure.” Kaveh swallows, then keeps talking like he didn’t just exhibit such an obvious nervous tell. “So, you’re sick. Is that any reason to upend your life? I understand needing to take the time to get better, but—”
“I am not going to get better. I am going to get worse, and then I am going to die,” Alhaitham says plainly.

Summary
After the Dendro Archon gets rid of the Akasha, the people of Sumeru are able to dream again. Along with dreams, a new phenomenon has begun to occur in which two individuals can share a dream. In Sumeru, the only person you can naturally share a dream with is your soulmate. The only downside is that once the dream is over, the only identifiers the dreamer can remember about their soulmate in order to find them are their names and a vague idea of what they look like.
In which Kaveh and Alhaitham start sharing dreams and Alhaitham hides the fact that they’re soulmates from Kaveh.
