"It’s impossible for him to tell the passage of time, but at some point, he can hear again. Muffled and hardly coherent, but it's something other than static, making him latch onto the sense as he tries to force his eyes open.
Immediately, his eyes fall on the man from before, but this time, several feet below him.
Odd… but Derek can still hardly think about it at the moment, feeling nothing but cotton in his head. His eyes almost roll back again, but he fights like hell to keep them down so he doesn't close them, static taking over his vision and leaving him blind, only able to comprehend the presence of light and darkness.
Through the static, he sees a bright light, unable to tell if it’s green or yellow.
Why would there be a light like that in such a dark place?"

Avery woke up hours later, head throbbing and dazed; sat beside him was a guy in average clothing, a blank nametag with the name ‘Wiffy’ on it. Who was this? A nurse? At least he thought he was?
‘Wiffy’ sat beside him irritated, to the point Wiffy's eye twitched. As soon as he saw Avery was awake he began to yell and howl about his ‘carelessness’ and ‘im-maturity’ .
Avery sat dumbfounded and confused. Looking at Wiffy with wide eyes and he spoke a few words, a few words that caused Wiffy; for ONCE in his life, to shut up.
“Who are you?”
