Ten years removed from high school, ten years of life and loss and a hell of a lot of trauma, and yet here he is— back at Midtown and gossiping at the lunch table, feeling not quite full circle in a way he couldn’t put his finger on.
“You know something we don’t?” Flash asks, pulling Peter out of his thoughts and seeing the three of them staring at him expectantly.
“Nah,” Peter says with a quick shake of his head, “it’ll just be weird without him, you know? Didn’t think anything would get Harrington to finally retire.”
“Yeah,” Gwen says sadly, pursing her lips before a grin breaks across her face, “really makes you wonder who they got as his replacement then.”
Peter snorts, taking another bite of his sandwich.
“Good luck to whoever has to show them around.”
