Summary
On Earth, it was customary for people to wear black for funerals.
Kara didn't understand that decision, but then, she didn't understand many things on Earth. Humans wore all sorts of colors, for seemingly no reason, and in many ways, it was an eyesore. She never knew what a human did based on their look alone, nothing like it was on Krypton, or rather, Argo City. Her cousin said it was a part of humanity's charm, but she couldn't comprehend the need for singularity and told him so. He only replied that someday she would.
Today, she stood with a group of mourners, donning a suitably drab dress, and, under the beaming yellow sun, the black-dyed cotton only absorbed more light, granting her greater vitality. It felt disrespectful, a mockery of what was meant to be a solemn event. She gently clutched the soft fabric and wished for the mourning-white robes of her childhood.
Kara's mourning consumes her every waking thought, right up until it doesn't.

There’s something to be said about punching your way out of your own coffin, scared out of your mind and not remembering a single damn thing. It's a living hell in every sense of the word, and all in all having Poison Ivy knock him out after she found him rampaging through a garden in the dead of night was probably as good an outcome he could have hoped for.
Or, what happens when Jason's return is less a traumatic ordeal in the Pit and more a gentle blossoming under Pamela's careful care, and he finds himself looking at Bruce and thinking, yes.

“Show me a picture?” Mandy had asked instead. So Samira did. A goddamn screenshot she took from his public Facebook profile picture, because of course that was the only place she could find a picture of him. But he wasn’t holding a fish in it or anything. It was, inexplicably, an artsy affair clearly captured on real film, no filter. He was sitting forward in a chair below a gallery wall of oil paintings, a trailing plant a paid actor rounding out the top right corner. His elbows were on his knees, flash illuminating his eyes, throwing the corded muscles of his forearms in shadow as he clasped his hands just in front of his chin. Candid and casual. At fucking ease, with his stark wedding ring in center frame.
Oh shit, oh shit, her friend had texted back. I’m sorry, that’s devastating.
