Summary
A gentle flurry is coming down, large flakes that catch on his hair, when he spots the figure in the distance. He squints through the veil of white, at first sure he is seeing an illusion-- but even as he watches, it draws closer, moving gracefully through the fallen snow with slow, elegant steps. A tall man of unearthly beauty is walking through the forest, dressed in a long white robe that trails upon the snow behind him.
Hongjoong stares, transfixed; the man seems to shimmer with a cold iridescence, his robe glittering like moonlight on frost. Even the tips of his dark hair curve around his face as sharp as icicles, framing regal, dignified features and a delicate, pointed chin. Only the color of his lips betrays that the man walks among the living-- a deep crimson red, as brilliant as Hongjoong's coat.
(The sole survivor of a battle, Hongjoong turns to the forest for solitude, and falls in love with an enchanting winter fae.)

"We'd be running headlong into a suicide mission." Johnny sits up, giving Doyoung a look of sardonic skepticism. "Is that really what you want us to do? What you think Taeyong wants us to do?"
"I don't know what Taeyong wants!" Doyoung snaps, glaring back at Johnny. He sighs, uncrossing his arms and looking around at them. "But he left the team in my hands until he comes back. So I promise you, I'm not going to fail you now."

"See, told you they'd still be open," a tall, dark-haired man says as he enters, glancing back. "Don't worry about the cost, I'll cover it."
He's followed by a pair of shorter men, one leaning on the other's shoulders, and another tall, lanky man who instantly draws Hongjoong's eyes with his too-short shirt and tight jeans. All four are carrying an armful of wet clothes, and are also incredibly hot.
Hongjoong sits up, pulling the lollipop from his mouth. Now these are people worth watching.

Summary
The destruction of the great metal spheres in the sky and the subsequent societal reset heralded the coming of a new age for mankind, a turning point where the scant remaining populace began to divide into factions. Various small outposts and settlements were assimilated (willingly or otherwise) to the control of larger, newly established capitals. It seemed even at the end of the world humans craved the familiar organization of society.
With one hand the Provinces and Metropoles held onto their respective assets with an iron fist, all while the other played a careful game of chess that determined who was worthy of what from whom. It never quite resulted in all-out violence but tensions were high and just the slightest ripple threatened to throw everything into disarray. The egocentricity and greed persisted unending; political posturing, squabbling for resources, as well as the blatant and targeted mistreatment of betas and omegas. Survival meant ranking your fellow human and those in power — alphas — catered to their own first and foremost. It seemed most people simply accepted that this was how things were and always would be.
Until the 108th Year of Halazia when the Western Metropolis fell to an omega.

It takes a turn for the worse when a Rebel named Hongjoong infiltrates the Headquarters, claiming to know 1126 from a time before the New World.
(Or, when Hongjoong discovers that his boyfriend, Wooyoung, didn't actually die during the Outbreak - but instead became a militaristic machine - he stops at nothing to save him.)
