The first sign that something was wrong was just a scratchy throat. It had started while he was trapped in the Seelie Court, huddled in a cell beside Jaime, pain and fear coursing through him. He’d written the pain and exhaustion off as being part of the whole, you know, torture and imprisonment… But after he got home from Faerie, things got worse. It felt like something had scratched his throat raw, like something was lodged in his throat and he needed to clear it away. It quickly turned into a little cough, barely more than clearing his throat. From then, since he acknowledged it, it would come on in waves, feeling like he was choking, gasping for breath.
