Summary
He vaults easily over the door into the bucket seat of a red ‘02 Thunderbird with its top down and hunkers low into his jacket. The pump is done running up. Dick stares at the numbers, grand total stuck halfway along its old analog ticker between one cent and the next.
Boots on concrete grit approach from the storefront blinking hot neon against the dark. Dick looks to the rearview and finds the edge of Slade’s reflection approaching, pausing to unrack the fuel nozzle and shut the cap before, tangible and right-way around again, he deposits with little ceremony a cellophane bag full of gas station sundries into Dick’s lap.
Slade opens and shuts the driver’s side door with pointed civility. He starts the engine. “Who do you think it says more about that you still have the taste of a teenager with too much allowance,” he muses with casual derision, setting the roof to close up over them given the cold drawn out past sunset, “you, or Wayne Enterprises?”

Summary
Dick stared at his Nightwing suit. He was having a hard time making himself touch it. There was nothing in the world he wanted more than he wanted to crawl back into bed, lights still on, fully-dressed, and sleep. If he put the suit on, he’d have to go out into the cold, spend most of his night chasing down arms-dealers and mercenaries and who knew what. The thought of it made his stomach heave, bile rise up in his throat, some huge, unnamed emotion threatening to emerge from his chest.

Bruce is back from the dead, and Dick isn't coping well. In fact, he's barely coping at all. It feels as though everything in his life is falling apart. So of course that's when Slade decides to reappear in Dick's life and turn everything upside down. A story about learning to ask for what you need, how to hold your boundaries, and how to trust that the people you love love you enough to help.

He was wearing the same medical scrubs as you, his wrists and ankles were secured with the same restraints as yours. A bandage was wrapped around his head covering his eyes, and an oxygen mask was secured over his mouth. His head was resting on a metallic block that had been welded to the table and there was something in the back of his neck.
The sinking sense of dread that hit you was so strong that it made you feel nauseous. What was happening? Who was that? Was he in a coma? He didn't move, he didn't move at all.

Summary
Despite the fact that Dick came to the Graysons without knowing a lick of any language that the Circus recognized, his parents insisted that his stories of red crystal spires and a shattered planet were simply that, stories. Even though Dick very rarely told Bruce a lie, Bruce followed in their footsteps and would remind Dick that his memories of a sunstone dust ship singing him lullabies were only dreams from an overactive imagination. Eventually Dick fell in line, accepting that his past as Krypton was merely a dream from an abandoned child's imagination. He never would have expected that the truth would have come out after getting strapped to a bomb that led to his, however momentary, death.
Or: Dick's a Kryptonian, though no one believes him until his heritage makes itself quite known.

It usually goes like this after a scene: Slade stays for a moment in the afterglow, riding out the last of his orgasm, rolling the two of them onto their sides and holding Dick close. Then he lets go and gets out of bed.
After Slade leaves, Dick will give himself a few minutes before he reaches up to drag the heavy quilt off the headboard. He’ll wrap himself in his comforter, settle the quilt over everything, and pretend that the weight is another person’s arms around him.
If he’s lucky, he’ll fall asleep like that.
