It's funny, actually, that Shane’s rival is somehow linked to the girl that he's dating. Even as Jackie’s breaths grow steadier and deeper, Hayden is still wide awake, counting everything he knows about Boston Lily.
The list is disappointingly short.
She lives in Boston.
She had been seeing Shane—or at least texting him—for at least eight years.
Her name is Lily.And their new discoveries from tonight:
Lily is a fan of hockey, and cheers for the Boston Raiders.
She hates Rosanov.He has all the right pieces, but now he only has to worry about managing where they’re supposed to go in his brain.
The epiphany hits Hayden so hard that he jolts to his feet, knocking Jackie halfway off his lap in the process.
“Hayd, what the fuck?” He tunes out his wife’s startled shout, desperate to not lose his train of thought.
Hayden forces every mental puzzle piece into place.
Boston Lily is Ilya Rosanov's ex-girlfriend—Or at least an ex-hookup.
It explains everything.

Shane Hollander and Ilya Rosanov's careers would always be inexplicably linked, much to Yuna Hollander's dismay.
Rosanov was brash, cocky, and rude. He was an unnecessarily aggressive player. And, worst of all, he wasn’t a team player. All traits that Shane had never allowed himself to be. So before Yuna had even met Rosanov in person, she had her mind made up.
The Russian was the opposite of her son in all ways but one: Ilya Rosanov was a damn good hockey player.

Ilya laughed as he gestured to the young fan. “It is you, moya lyubov.”
Shane smiled, holding out a hand to help the girl jump off the table. “Want to explain what that means?”
Ilya poked the fan in the shoulder. “Please, can you introduce yourself to Mr. Hollander?”
With two feet planted on the ground, and a quick glance at her parents, the young girl stuck out her hand, expression serious.
“Hi there,” Shane crouched, eye level with her now. “What’s your name?”
Like Shane’s question had triggered a programmed response, she bounced on her toes. “I’m Jane!”
OR
Ilya meets an Ottawa fan named Jane, and must introduce her to his Jane.
