“Hello?” Armand says, amused, and Daniel should not laugh, should not dare to when his hand is wrapped around Armand’s throat. It escapes him anyway, a breathy sort of chuckle, and Armand smiles at the sound of it.

Summary
Many of his first few undead weeks have been spent sleeping. There isn’t much else left to do in an empty penthouse that doesn’t belong to you, after all. Daniel will stalk the streets when the sun sleeps as he has to, yearning to satiate the burning hunger that sneaks up on him. But after his meal he returns to the Al-Sharif Towers. Confines himself to his coffin that isn’t his at all, attempts to train himself to ignore the faint scent still lingering on the silk within, pretending he doesn’t know precisely whose it is. But of course he does. He’ll never forget that scent hanging over him, the weight of the body it belonged to pressing down against him.
Daniel Molloy, mere weeks after being transformed, has been left in Dubai by his maker, overwhelmed by dreams and shadowed by a strange presence.

Summary
Something is strumming through Daniel. Something cold and unpleasant, something almost painful. Something not his.
He watches how Armand tenses, how his body slowly goes rigid like a panther getting ready to pounce on its prey, how his shoulders square and his back straightens. Armand’s jaw clenches and Daniel can hear the wet sound of his fangs digging into the meaty part of his inner cheeks. Pain to ground the monster.
It dawns on Daniel that what he can feel, is his maker. Armand’s feelings, specifically his hurt and rage rushing through him, is being projected through their bond and it’s near unbearable. This intimacy is like nothing else. This sudden unique form of closeness makes Daniel dizzy.

“You— hah, missed the best part,” Zagreus wheezed, a breathy laugh escaping him. “I… must have put on quite the show, I’d say.”
Thanatos’ hand brushed the side of his face, and Zagreus leaned into the touch. Warm, he noted, with some surprise. Thanatos was never warm. “I’m here now.” He took Zagreus’ hand in his, lacing their fingers together firmly. “I’m right here.”
Zagreus was used to dying— hard not to be, with the frequency he did it. He’d even go so far as to say he had mastered the art.
Usually, by now, the Styx would have swallowed him, bearing his body back home; yet this time, Zagreus knew he wouldn’t be so lucky. For whatever reason, it seemed he would be getting the full, unabridged experience of a mortal death. How fortunate he was.
