The computer hasn’t been helpful at all, and all those medical textbooks don’t have information about situations like this—”
He cuts himself off, perhaps realizing that your eyes are wide at the flurry of information he throws at you. “Sorry, I got ahead of myself,” He apologizes, running a hand through his hair again and adjusting the gold glasses that had been slipping down his nose. “You just woke up, and I didn’t introduce myself. I’m Ry—”
“Ryland Grace,” You complete for him without thinking.
“You remember?” He exclaims, his eyes brightening.
You pause. How did you know that? You didn’t remember your own name until two minutes ago, yet you instinctively knew his. Something about him was familiar, but you couldn’t put your finger on it.You wake up nine days late aboard the Hail Mary with no memories and the faint feeling that you know Ryland Grace, the only other person aboard the ship. Oh, and he just met an alien.

His eyes locked with wide eyes as he discovered… a person? A human woman to be exact. She was crouched low to the ground, holding her left arm to her body tightly, staring up at him blankly.
“Uhm- I…” He croaked intelligently.
She blinked up at him and neither of them moved for a moment. Suddenly, the woman moved to stand. It was an unsteady movement, her legs wobbling not unlike a baby deer. Her eyes never left Rylands face, her blank expression morphed into something more akin to fascination.
“Hello?” Ryland finally managed to get out.
The woman's lips parted as she attempted to work her vocal cords to respond. “Hhng-” It was more of a grunt than anything.
Ryland watched as she took a shaky step forward, towards him he realized with horror. His heart pounded as she took another step, unsure of what to do. Suddenly, she slipped, her legs flying out in front of her.
“Jeez!” He yelped, as he instinctively reached out to try and catch her.

Summary
When the sun started dying, you hadn’t had the chance to live. At least, not the way anyone would consider a good life. At the ripe old age of six-months-old an expiration date you couldn’t see had been placed delicately upon your head. You suppose that might be the reason why humanities saving Grace had always been your idol. He chose to leave to save you, and your neighbor and everyone else he left behind. If you had been in his shoes, you don’t think you could have made the same choice. But when a random Interview gives you the chance to follow in his footsteps, you can't help wanting your own journey into space.
—- LORE GAP —- I made Dr. Grace younger when he left so that by the time he got to Erid he was around 35, so he left around 25 (Younge genius, doctor at 21, disowned and then teacher for 3 years), and it took him approx. 6 years after finding rocky to get there —P.S, As I'm writing this, I will be going back to previous chapters to make revisions as the story progresses, so if there's a plot hole, please let me know or it might have just been an adjustment I've already made. I tried Really Really hard to get the math right on this guys.
