Summary
“The vampire Armand,” Daniel said slowly, the headline writing itself in his mind, “in love with a mortal. Now that’s a story I’m interested in.”
The gaze that met his was no longer wounded, but predatory-cold. “You’re a vulture, aren’t you?” Armand said, the words soft as a blade being drawn from silk. “Picking at every scrap of exposed flesh.”
Daniel held the gaze, refusing to flinch. He’d been called worse. “It’s the job. You started talking out of your own free will. You don’t get to be offended when I look for the cracks in the narrative.”
~~~
After a brutal interview session leaves Daniel feeling flayed open, his most painful memory weaponized against him the moment he got a little too smart-mouthed, he has a bizarre conversation with the Vampire Armand about love, loss and nailclippers. His life couldn’t possibly get any weirder.Series
Summary
"I wanna talk about Nicolas de Lenfent."
"I have given you free reign to ask follow up questions for your silly little sequel now that we are not facing imminent death," Armand pointed out. "And you wish to discuss Nicolas de Lenfent. Surely, the matter is better suited to Lestat."
"I already know what Lestat has to say on the matter. I'm asking you."
In the aftermath of almost losing the entire world to Akasha's madness, Armand hopes only to rebuild the life with Daniel he almost once had. A secret kept since 1796 may well derail that even as Armand plans to restore Night Island to its former glory.Bookmarked by thebellimelli
Summary
“Proof of concept,” ♫♬♯♩♩♫ says. “We’ve tested it thoroughly to ensure it fits the specified nutritional profile, and several members of our team have ingested small amounts of it to ensure there were no adverse effects.”
“You ate some of it?” I ask, rudely. I’m too irate to mind my language. Who do they think they are? That meat is for Grace. In a way, that meat is Grace.
“Yes,” ♫♬♯♩♩♫ says. They and the rest of the human life support thrum know better than to be offended by my occasionally strange behaviour. “Obviously we weren’t going to risk the life of Honoured Grace on a completely untested technology.”
That doesn’t mean much. There’s a lot of things that are safe for ingestion by Eridians that would outright kill a human.
Trust Grace, I remind myself. He’ll have thought of all this.
(OR: Grace's meburgers from the book epilogue. Let's talk about those!)
