Except they do. Mentally, emotionally–and yes, physically. Your mistakes and sadness follow you right into adulthood, lying in wait, fangs bared and ready to strike the second you let your guard down. That’s been Ikuya’s experience, at any rate.
Life has never been easy for Ikuya. First his brother, then Haru, then Asahi—the one constant is that everyone leaves. Asahi's disappearance hurts most of all, especially since he reaches out to Kisumi, leaving Ikuya with only radio silence. During the six years between middle school and college, he falls into a deep depression and, in a bid for any kind of relief, develops some harmful habits.
Everything changes once he reunites with his old friends. Between a full social life, a burgeoning career, and one very persistent Asahi shouldering his way back into his life, Ikuya is dealing with a whole mountain of confusing feelings. And on top of everything, Kisumi is still in the picture.
