Summary
In the bleached-out warmth of Akademi's courtyards, a smile is never an expression of joy. It is a calculated alignment of the lips, a precise incision meant to charm or to cut.

Angel was gone. Disappeared back to Val to live in that fucking tower where all of Hell could watch a blow by blow replay of every moment of abuse that asshole put him through. He wouldn't answer his phone, ignoring all their texts, until the only thing that let them know for sure he was alive at all were the fresh batches of filth being pushed outta the studio doors on a near daily basis. Husk couldn't just leave him there, but what the fuck was he supposed to do? Was it possible to save someone that didn't consent to being saved?
Being used as an unwilling mole was one thing, but choking the life out of your best friend? How'd you come back from that? You didn't. The least he could do was stay away, maybe that way he'd keep the people he loved outta the danger that came with knowing him.
