"I told you," Robby huffs, "Beer. Hot apple cider. Maybe a chicken pot pie on the porch of some good Samaritan who takes pity on me."
"Yeah? Chicken pot pie?" Jack hums, raising his eyebrows, receiving an affirming nod from the other. "Gonna go on a stereotypical-ass spirit journey? That's what you're going to do, Michael? That's the reason you hugged me like that? Like you were savoring it?"

Summary
It’s the first time they’ve ever hugged, the two of them. Which is very strange, if you think about it. They have keys to each other’s houses, they’ve handed each other scalpels and beers and sleeping pills, Jack’s popped Robby’s shoulder back in its socket for fuck’s sake - but they’ve never hugged. And Jack hadn’t realized that, until this very moment.

“Water slide collapse earlier today. Only a few majors, thank god.”
“Yeah. Heard it on the scanner,” Jack replies, absently. The screen lights up his pale face, freckles popping under dark smudged eyes.
Jack doesn't need any more referrals.
