Summary
My first attempt at writing fan fiction. Like a lot of you here I was devastated when Jax abstracted even though it made sense for the story and themes. This is my attempt at adding on to the events of Jax's abstraction in The Last act, featuring the moment that Jax abstracted and what could have potentially happened after Pomni failed to save Jax. Feel free to leave constructive criticism and I hope you all enjoy reading!

Shang’s eyes went wide as he followed the arrow’s trajectory to the fifty-foot pole in the center of the camp. A tired but satisfied Ping grinned down at the men from his perch at the top, Strength and Discipline draped casually over his shoulder.
As he registered the sound of cheers, something warm blossomed in Shang’s chest. He had no idea what to make of it.

Summary
Li Shang's father wants him to marry before the Huns invade. Shang himself has better things to do, but dutifully goes to marriage interviews anyway. He's tired of meeting vapid young women that might be able to carry out the role of wife and mother, but are otherwise forgettable. However, his latest interview is with Fa Mulan, the daughter of Fa Zhou, and it turns out that Fa Mulan is not your typical young woman.
