    Bookmarker's Notes

The other had come in on Kaeya and Caelus tending to the child’s nature catalogue. The leaves they had collected during their ride were spread out on the dining table. Both the father’s and the son’s faces brightened up the moment he made his presence known, much like two puppies perking up upon the arrival of their owners.

Cute , Diluc thought, smiling. “I’m back.”

A/n In Dear Caelus, I've been writing from Diluc's and Caelus' pov, so I tried to write from Kaeya's in this one. I must say it's kinda new and hard and I don't know what else Kaeya would be thinking except that he was in love with Diluc and Caelus (lol). And this is quite a poor attempt at fluff, and as much as I wanted to fully write about nice things and Caelus, I think it's also important to explore Kaeya/Diluc relationship if Dear Caelus did not end that way. So, basically in this universe, they managed to sort out their emotional baggage, and Diluc ended up being honest to Kaeya about his pregnancy. The faerie and the dreams did happen but like Diluc said; it was only with Barbatos' grace that they were both saved.

Cj 32 No!” Kaeya suddenly snapped, cutting him off. “You can't....you don't have the right...It's been four years...” Kaeya glared up at Diluc. “What do you even know! About what I've been through during this time? What you put me through? Nothing! What do I care about such a utterly meaningless apology? And after all this time? I don't want to hear it...” He turned his back to Diluc again. Indicating he was done with this conversation. “Get out.”

CJ 34Kaeya simply stood there, staring at Diluc, his gaze unwavering, waiting as the knights quickly ushered the remaining patrons out. Diluc couldn't help but be impressed at the absolute authority emanating from his little brother. Kaeya was generally very easy going. Never serious, always charming, playful, acting like everything was a game. He was always talking and meddling with everyone, often drinking with the knights under him. Diluc had never actually seen his little brother actually pull rank on anyone as a Captain.

But here he was, all it took was one look to command absolute obedience from the drinking knights, despite the fact that none of them were on duty, Kaeya wasn't actually their commanding officer, and he absolutely looked like he sneaked out of the Cathedral. It was....impressive, and quite telling about the amount of respect and trust Kaeya held within the knights.

Xh 7 If Jean hadn't been there with me...” Kaeya continued, glaring at nothing in particular. “I might not even have been allowed to attend the funerals.”

Diluc looked up, his eyes wide in shock at the revelation. Then looked down in shame once more. He had only acted out of rage and hurt from his brother's perceived betrayal. He had only cared about casting Kaeya away and burning every bond. He had not spared any though about what kind of hardship his disownment might cause him.

Still to this day, Diluc knew they generally had a negative opinion of the Cavalry Captain. Diluc had overheard many disobliging comments about him during various social events he had attended since his return. Comments about his skin, his eyes, his general demeanor, his perceived laziness and most of all, how he rode on Diluc's tailcoat and name to reach his current position. Diluc was ashamed to admit that, while he did not spoke ill of Kaeya with them, he had not done anything to shut them up.... And he might have silently agreed with some of the comments back then...

Diluc gave him a levelled look. “Kaeya, what would you think if a lost, foreign child showed up at Dawn Winery's door tomorrow morning?”

Kaeya frowned at him, but didn't answer.

“You'd suspect foul play, obviously.” Diluc answered for him.

Ch 8 Diluc had been there, he'd fought against the Drake, been injured, saw his men torn to pieces around him. He saw the backlash of the Delusion... their father's unbearable pain and watched life fade from his eyes as he mercy killed him... For Diluc, it had been a soul shattering experience that had obviously left deep scars on his mind.

“Oh.” Kaeya is silent, for a moment, trying to find the words to say. “I thought you killed him, Diluc. I wanted to know the truth.”

“I know,” Diluc sighs. “I know what you suspected. I let it continue. I didn’t want you to think of him badly, using the Delusion. I’d rather had you hate me.”

“So it really did just backfire on him,” Kaeya breathes. “Thank Collei for dragging that up. Well... I wanted to find the truth for a selfish reason, myself.”

    Diluc straightens up. “Why?”

“Because I assumed that if I found that that you really did kill your father, Diluc, I would fall out of love with you.”

    Pause.

“Well,” Kaeya hums, “I was completely wrong. So here we are.”

    Oh.

    Summary

“Chu-laoshi,” he says, ensuring that his voice is gentler, deeper, and slower than it usually is. “I'm sorry to disturb you, but do you have a minute?”

Chu Wanning looks back. Mo Ran, who has been starved of the endless pool of Chu Wanning’s attention, helplessly moves closer and closer.

    “Do I know you?”

Mo Ran adjusts his thick glasses, straightens up his tie, and boldly shakes his head. “Would you have forgotten me, had we met before?” he asks when he clearly knows the answer.

Or: Mo Ran relies on the Clark Kent effect to seduce his husband.

    In ch 4

    Ch 1Do I know you?”

Mo Ran adjusts his thick glasses, straightens up his tie and boldly shakes his head. “Would you have forgotten me, had we met before?” he asks when he clearly knows the answer.

Yes, he would have. Yes, he has. Mo Ran knows exactly what possessed him to shittily disguise himself as a nerd— a student, nonetheless—and stand tall in front of his husband of seven months who clearly fails to recognise him. It was this—this unbroken, ardent attention that Chu Wanning gave to everyone but him that pushed him towards the edge. This simple acknowledgement shouldn't have been so hard to achieve given that he comes home to Mo Ran.
Ch 2ccording to the message he'd relayed to his husband a week ago, he wasn't supposed to be in town, not really. He was supposed to be in Wuhan, attending "meetings of extreme importance". And yet here he is, dressed as Himself with a bag of takeout, standing forlorn outside his door while the gregarious rain shows no sign of stopping.

Before he can unlock his door with his key, it flies open, revealing a very dishevelled Chu Wanning. For the first time since they've been married, is husband opens the door of their shared home for Mo Ran to step in.
