Summary
Obito dies protecting Naruto, turning against a cause he spent his whole life fighting for. He dies as Obito Uchiha, the boy who wants to become Hokage.
Of course, nothing ever goes Obito's way, and he wakes up. In an entirely new world. A world that talks of heroes and villains— a world obviously meant to punish and humiliate Obito, someone who could never be a hero. Because while there is no one in this new world to remember Obito's sins, the weight of his guilt will forever be shackled to him. There is no one alive to remember what Obito did, except himself. No one to make him face consequences, except himself.
Kakashi had called Obito his hero, once. And, while Obito could never be considered a hero, maybe he can to learn how to be that person again. In a world of heroes and villains, he could attain some semblance of what it's like to be good again.
So, Obito has one goal with his second chance. To redeem himself.

“Like this.” Verity lifts the log with surprising strength. Mob hears it thud behind him.
He doesn’t turn around.
