The first time he meets Bachira outside their assigned dormitory for some after-hours training, Isagi views it as a mutually-beneficial arrangement, ready to make the most of it by learning a thing or two from this exceptionally talented, yet undeniably odd dribbler—while friendly and perhaps a little too touchy-feely, Bachira Meguru doesn’t fail to give Isagi the chills. There’s nothing more to it, really; they’re supposed to head in, practice shooting and passing, and then leave. No pointless talking or getting to know each other on a deeper level.
That was the initial idea.
Turns out that Bachira is quite the chatterbox. He also proves to be exceptionally hard to, well, not like.

Michael felt guilty reminiscing about their days together in the dorms. Beside each pleasant, nostalgic memory was an equally poisonous one. He couldn't count the number of times he’d thought they’d reach their breaking point. Michael found kindling in the form of tiny transgressions and social pitfalls, and stoked raging fires with them. Countless times his rage burned Alexis - made him cry, broke him down, whittled away at his already suffering self esteem.
If it weren’t for all the times Alexis came crawling back to him, Michael was certain he would spend the rest of his life alone and miserable.

Summary
It had been ten months of realizing how poisonous Kaiser was, how that poison saturated every aspect of Ness’ life like a drug. Ten months of Ness desperately trying to survive alone after the lifeline that supplied him had turned out to be chains. Ten months of trying to forget, because that was the only option where Ness didn’t go to bed wanting him back.
And in walked Kaiser, like none of it mattered to him at all.
Or, after almost a year of no contact, Kaiser shows up at Ness' doorstep in the middle of the night.
