Shane Hollander ended things for all the right reasons.
He has Rose. He has hockey. He has a future that finally makes sense.
Then Rose points across a crowded Montreal nightclub and says three words:
"Isn't that Rozanov?"
Or: What if Ilya ran after Shane that night at the club?

So this is my very first fanfic! I am an avid reader here on A03 and after reading literally 100's of stories, I decided to take a crack at it myself. I do not have a beta, so this was all edited me, myself and I. If you see any errors......no you didn't.

Summary
In Vegas, after they’d said everything right up to the edge of I love you, Shane and Ilya came up with a plan. It was long term, with many, many steps. There might be a spreadsheet somewhere that Shane won’t admit to.
But it’s a plan, nonetheless. Over the summer of 2014, they tweak it and add things important to the both of them. There are even many, extensive, contingency plans.
OR
Thanks to Shane's small lie the first time they hooked up, Shane and Ilya are together years earlier. Now, they have to figure out what to do about it.

Summary
“My flight is early tomorrow,” Rozanov says. He bites his lip. Shane’s eyes stick there too. “You look in hallway, yes?”
Shane sticks his head out. The hallway is empty.
Would it hurt? To go another round? Rozanov has to fly out early anyway, it’s hardly like they’ll be spending time befriending each other. What is one night, when they’ve already crossed the line with eyes wide open?
“Shit,” he says. “There’s a couple at the end of the hallway, arguing, you know? You better wait until they leave.”
OR
Shane lies, that first night, to keep Rozanov to himself a little longer. The changes spiral out from there.

Summary
[Seven members of the Ottawa Centaurs stand in the backyard of Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. Each of the men holds a bag of candy as they joke with each other while Harris Drover sets up the shot. The sun is beginning to dip in the sky behind them, and the Stanley Cup sits on a makeshift stand made out of a cushioned lawn chair. Shane hovers close to the cup, and can be seen eyeing it with concern as Ilya watches him with amusement.]
Shane: That doesn’t look very stable. We could have at least dragged the patio table out here.
Ilya: It’s fine, sweetheart.
Shane: I know, but it’s my day with the cup, I don’t want anything to happen to it.
Ilya: Bood seasoned jerk chicken in there, yesterday. I think it will survive a little trauma candy salad dump in our backyard.
Shane: That feels like a famous last words kind of scenario.
