Every shriek of delight was Kris and Noelle’s thing. A knight and a princess a long time ago, when they’d play dress-up and Kris would carry Noelle around while she was still small and light enough. Pretending to drop her so she’d scream, but holding on tight because she was soft and sweet and they wanted to protect her. A bond formed through being different, weird, not belonging in their own bodies.
Secrets, because they had no one else.
Every unspoken tender moment should’ve been Kris and Susie’s thing. Was Kris and Susie’s thing, from the very first time they met, that little blossoming feeling from every brush of the hand and taking hits for each other and fighting back tears when things were too difficult to say in words. Each other’s first real somethings, quite literally forged in prophecy.
Unspoken, because they got each other.
The way they looked at each other, how they used to look at Kris when they thought Kris wasn’t looking.
That was Kris’s. Should be Kris’s.

Bachira was looking uncharacteristically downtrodden. Which was, of course, none of Rin’s business. If anything, it was a blessing—a whole proper meal without anyone bothering him! But it was in his best interests to still have warm, breathing bodies that counted towards the five-person quota they needed to hit.
Rin prodded Bachira’s prone form with the head of a chopstick.
“Are you alive,” he intoned.
Bachira did not move.The one who suffers most from Bachira and Isagi's second selection almost-breakup is Rin.

He knew he had done something wrong when Bachira’s whole face lit up again. “Rin-chaaan, I didn’t know you were paying attention when I talked.”
Rin felt a sense of something foreboding creeping up on him, the kind of feeling he would’ve gotten were he in the woods in the middle of the night and with something waiting in the bushes. “I’m not.”
“But you remember the things I say.”
“If this is a surprise to you, then I’m sorry to say you’ve spent your entire life surrounded by lukewarm shits with goldfish memories.”
Bachira grabbed both of Rin’s hands, starry-eyed. “Rin-chan, you care!”
“Are you hearing me at all,” Rin said.

Gray. The owner of the voice’s hair is gray. What is he supposed to do with that information? “Have I just been flirting with a sixty-year-old man for the past two months? Oh my god, and I even called you babe.”
“Yes,” the voice says in a tone that suggests completely otherwise. “You got me. The jig is up. Congrats, your prize is a free McFlurry.”
“Well hey, a McFlurry’s a McFlurry. I guess I’ll take it, ahjussi.”
The voice makes a choked noise and sputters out, “Ahjussi?” and Jungkook laughs all the way to the next window.

It did not fit among the gaunt features of his countenance, his eyes shadowed by hollows, his cheeks sunken into the bone beneath; but then, none of his physical appearance corresponded with his demeanor. He lifted his head, just barely, pale hair streaming down in a perfect, precise curl onto the gurney whose straps bound him. Then his voice crackled over the speakers. “My, my, what a surprise… It’s been four years too many,” he said, “Klavier.”

Klavier leaned into his touch as he followed along the roots, tracing the curl of each golden lock flowing from his head, soft and smooth and featherlight beneath fingertips, and leaving the faint aroma of citrus where his hands roamed. As his fingers fell to the curve of his nape, his hand stilled; and, gently, he returned his hand to the top of his head, stroking his hair once again.
He had seen the act of affection from Metis to Athena, years ago.
Now, it seemed all he could do as sobs wracked through Klavier, deafening despite how the fabric of his jinbaori muffled the sound. They shook convulsions down his spine, heaving his shoulders, as if the weight of his grief was far too heavy a burden to bear; but if Klavier were to crumble before him, to fall, Simon vowed to catch him.
