Summary
Ianto is called in on his day off. The team gets an earful when he is stuck in traffic and an old friend joins him for a bit of a natter. Some home truths are shared, showing Ianto is not entirely content with how things are going in his life, but he also knows he's not going to live long enough for it to matter. How he views his life is a shock to his friends and coworkers, and then they discover there may be darker forces at work.
I have taken the premise from AwatereJones' "Comms - Check" and made it dark and angsty. Please check out her original fic - it's great fun!
And the title - it's just a silly play on "Kind Hearts and Coronets", with no other reference or similarity. :)

Ianto has just spent a grueling forty-plus hours on cleanup in the aftermath of his and Jack's mission at Serenity Plaza. He can be forgiven for misinterpreting Jack's words as the older man dropped him off - alone - at his flat with the admonishment to 'get his head right' before returning to work.

Things are moving too fast and too well, so naturally Jack is freaking out. He asks for 12 hours each week (aka 'free-lance Sundays'), during which time he and Ianto can go their separate ways. Ianto feels trapped by the request - if he says no, he doesn't get any relationship at all with Jack. But if he says yes, he knows it will eventually destroy him.
Ianto's only choice is to agree, and after several weeks, he seems to find peace with Jack's demands.
And that's when Jack really gets to panic, because has Ianto found someone he may end up liking better than Jack???
Jack's about to learn that what's good for the goose is good for the sauce. But will he learn his lesson before it's too late?
