Chu Wanning’s lips part, gaze briefly losing focus. When he responds, his voice is deliciously raspy. “Yes, Shizun.”

“You woke me up, dipshit,” she croaked. Her throat felt scratchy and dry, almost to the point that it burned. She was dehydrated and the alcohol hadn’t helped any.
Mu Qing’s scoff was another familiar sound. Feng Xin managed to peel her eyes open and stare back at her. She didn’t know what possessed her to say it, but she was opening her mouth before she had another chance to rethink it. “You’re still so pretty.”

This could have been going better.
