Guy swallows hard, his gaze searching Jasper’s face. Up close, he sees more of Jasper’s age, the lines around his mouth, the crow’s feet at his eyes, marks of years lived. Jasper has kept well, handsome, dignified, but even by the kindest of measures, he is still more than old enough to be Guy’s father.
