It’s the first time he acknowledges the agony shooting up from his right knee. He doesn’t take his gear off immediately. He leans forward, puts his forearms on his knees and lets everything settle into stillness. Movement hides things, stillness exposes them.-or-
Andrew injures his knee during the Olympics in South Lake City and needs physical therapy.

A semi-heated rivalry turned marriage (only on paper though!)
Neil cleans some of the blood off with his left sleeve as he glares at the other. He’s lacking the manic smile from the last time they met. A side effect of the drugs, it seems. He watches him take a long drag of the fag. He watches the exhale of smoke. He watches Andrew stare back at him. Shaking his head vigorously, he forces himself back into the fight. He cannot be the only one bloody by the end of the night.
He launches himself and slashes at him, leading to a tear on Andrew’s cheek, enough to bleed slightly. Andrew taps the excess ash off the bud. He sends a look towards Neil before knocking the knife out of his hand expertly, gaining possession of it mid-air instead. He twirls around the auburn and pins him down onto a chair against the wall.
Neil’s breath hitches at the lightning moves. His heart beats loudly, but he tries to cover it up with a sly look. Andrew has a wry smile around the cigarette he holds between two fingers.
He positions the knife under Neil’s chin, lifting his head. “Giving up yet?”
“You think so lowly of me,” Neil remarks with a pout.

Neil can’t tell if anyone else realizes it, but they’re all, at the least, attuned enough to Andrew’s general demeanor not to fight the dismissal. They file out slowly, wishing him well and promising to visit again in the morning. Kevin reaches for the handles of Neil’s wheelchair as if to bring him with them. Neil bats his hand away without even a glance. He can feel the glare Kevin sends his way, but Neil couldn’t care less about him right now.
Look at me.
The feeling burns hot in his chest; a forest-fire filling his lungs, torching his skin, licking away at the last of his composure.
