    I don't really know why Gurathin called it that, except I guess it covered a range of sex and not-sex activities. I liked that ambiguity. Sometimes I changed my mind halfway through.

    Gurathin had never made a 'thing' of it.

    I liked that.

    A reimagining of All Systems Red/Season 1, using elements from both.

    Sent on what should be a long and tedious, but extremely simple, mission, Gurathin finds himself an unwitting target of The Company's shadow client and is forced to join up with a free-hold survey team way over their heads, and a rogue SecUnit that can't seem to catch a break.

    Gurathin is assigned as a systems engineer to DeltFall during the ill fated survey, with orders to collect information for the shadow client, GrayCris, that could lead to the location of alien remnants. After their Security Unit and a researcher are mauled by giant fauna not in the information packet, and experiencing satellite outages, PresAux reaches out to DeltFall for assistance, and Gurathin is sent to assist, although no gift is truly free. Left with PresAux with orders to clone their data for DeltFall, Gurathin narrowly avoids sharing the fate of the rest of the team. Now he's stuck with a group of hippies, a Murderbot, and a fellow DeltFall survivor he's never seen before.

    Summary

    Why do humans call it a crush, anyway? I’ve seen actual crushing, and it’s not romantic; it’s not even vaguely appealing. In fact, it’s pretty horrific. Same for when humans describe love as “falling” for someone, or say they’re “drowning” in sensation. I remain convinced that most of my Preservation humans are simply too naïve to know what these things actually feel like. But, speaking as someone who has fallen, drowned, and been crushed (although, thankfully not all at once), I can say with authority that being with Gurathin is nothing like that.

    A series of glimpses into Murderbot exploring its sexuality and the experience of shared touch with Gurathin. The first chapter is pretty mild, but the series will earn its explicit rating in later installments. This work lives in the same world as the first work in the series (Virus), but can be read standalone.
