Shane and Ilya never get caught at the cottage. Instead, Ilya calls Shane while seating on his bathroom floor a bottle of pills in one hand and no idea how he got there. Not wanting to leave him alone for the two hours and some the drive to Ottawa will take, Shane calls Yuna. Confused but determined to help her son, she rushes to Ilya Rozanov's house. She gains another son in the process.

He has a family here, in Canada. Ilya Rozanov, at twenty-eight, is a very lucky man.

Ilya never would have imagined being in this situation a year ago, driving toward a nearby 24-hour diner at 2 a.m. to get Shane a milkshake of all things, even less so being so happy about it, yet here he is.
Given the time of night, the little restaurant is almost empty, and Ilya is quickly served by a lovely older lady who gives him a knowing smile when he puts in his to-go order. “Pregnant partner at home?”
“Yes,” Ilya confirms, as if the huge smile on his face hadn’t already given him away. “First middle of the night craving.”
“Well, better get you on your way quickly then.”
