Summary
Bellamy and Clarke are on opposite sides of nearly every spectrum of life.
Clarke is a military prodigy, born into an elite family and groomed for success in the highest circles. Her intelligence is almost unparalleled. Bellamy is Arkadia’s most wanted criminal, born in a poor district and known by the alias “King”. His family believes he’s dead and it must stay like that for their protection. He’s okay with that until his sister, Octavia, is infected by the Plague, a disease that periodically spreads through the slum districts. When he breaks into the city hospital to steal medicine for her, everything goes gravely wrong.
Clarke is ordered to find him and so, she infiltrates his home district and poses as one of them, a poor girl. The only problem is, when she meets Bellamy, she has no idea that he's the man she's searching for. Little does she know that she will have a choice to make: choose to be loyal to her country, avenge her family, follow her head and everything she was raised to believe, or follow her heart and choose the boy she has fallen in love with.

For as long as she can remember, art student Clary Fray has loved the idea of love and romance, especially the romances and 'ships' of the fictional worlds in the books and TV shows that she and her best friend Simon obsess over.
Although she's pretty inexperienced in love and romance herself, Clary has always liked sketching romantic scenes in New York City, as well as sketching pictures and comic strips of her favorite fictional couples to upload to a site dedicated to fan art.
One Friday afternoon, she heads to a coffee shop in Brooklyn after class, where two men called Magnus and Alec happen to be having their first date. Although only observing the two of them from a distance, Clary quickly becomes invested in Magnus and Alec's blossoming romance, much to the amusement of one of the coffee shop's baristas, Jace.

So, as soon as Bellamy turned eighteen, he opted to donate sperm but stay anonymous. This way, he meets his obligation without complicating matters with Octavia. "We are." Clarke replied viciously, staring the warrior down. Octavia stared at her a moment longer before nodding curtly and kicking her horse forward, flying away into the night, heavy braids flicking like whips behind her.

The ceremony is surreal, like an out of body experience. She walks up a makeshift aisle, the crowd parting to watch her, to take her measure. She’s aware a priest of some sort says words that hush the crowd, but she can’t understand them. She throws a glance over her shoulder, where her mother is bleary eyed but stone faced. She shakes her head almost imperceptibly but she doesn’t interrupt or object. She knows their survival hinges on this.
She turns back to the priest, barely glancing at the man next to her, but his presence feels overwhelming. His breathing is even, he doesn’t fidget like she suddenly realises she is. He smells a bit spicy, a little heavy. Foreign. She nearly jumps when he shifts on his feet and brushes against her arm, the heat of him searing her skin.
Her eyes are firmly fixed ahead as the priest starts proceedings, as he chants prayers that she can’t decipher. She can only pick out certain words, and they all make her blood still in her veins. Death, fight, blood. If there is a word for love in trigedasleng she doesn't know it.
