(I just felt like we needed a little more exploration of that night, and I thought it'd be funny to see Louis be out of his head for a bit.)

“Are you with me, maître?” Armand asked him, one hand under his neck, the other supporting him as he laid down on the other's body in that bed too narrow to contain all the distance that ran between their souls.
“Where else?” he tried to smile at him—a desperate, aimless attempt to convince his lover that he could possess him—but his face contorted into a pained grimace, so distorted that it shifted his features.
Armand didn't notice, or pretended not to. He resumed the sticky trail of bloody kisses that descended from his throat to his chest, unbuttoning his shirt with his fingertips as he approached each button. Louis barely felt the touch, lost in a land between his bed and his distant memories—the coffin closing over his head, the large, soft hands gripping his hips, the ridiculous sound of Lestat's laughter muffled against his chest in the silence of midday so as not to risk awakening Claudia.
It felt more like the rubbing of stiff, poorly made fabric against the sensitive skin of his chest than the kiss of a lover. Not painful in itself, not pleasant but bearable. Distinctly annoying.
